The idea that guns make you safer in your home is bogus when you think it through. For example, in 2015 I was sitting in my livingroom and someone tried to kick in the front door. I called the cops and whoever it was fled. I thought about getting a gun and then I thought it through. What if I shot the intruder? Would I be charged with a crime? Sued by the family? It's just not worth it.

Regardless of the few incidents of people using guns to defend themselves....
Few? I could go on & on & on.
Consider Gary Kleck's research.
....my point is the more guns in a society the more gun deaths.
That's too simplistic.
I see it as more about the issue of who as access to guns.

That there are cases of people using guns to.....shows there is a gun violence problem. It’s not a defense, it’s more examples of the gun violence problem.
The need for self defense exists nonetheless.
When we've greatly reduced violent crime,
then we can talk about measures more
restrictive than what I've proposed so far.
