But is it just to punish good people?
I trust God not to do that.
You're in good company Trailblazer, like Abraham arguing on behalf of the Sodomites.
Remember how careful He was not to harm the good people?
“Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city?
"Once again he spoke to him, “What if only forty are found there?”
"Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?”
"Abraham said, “Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?”
"Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?”
"He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.”
I trust God knows what He's doing in these matters.
It happens.
Both on a global scale, and in a regional example.
It's the full cup principle.
God also showed Abraham all the land he would possess, and described his offspring like the stars of heaven.
But He told Abraham that first his descendants would go to Egypt and become slaves for 400 years.
Why?
Because the Amorites were living in the land, and their sin had not yet reached it's limit..
"In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure.” - Genesis 15:16
The Amorites defiled the land, and the land would vomit out it's inhabitants.
I don't even think they were allowed to keep the livestock.
I don't think it's a fun subject.
I wash myself everyday,
Am I even clean?
Does my tongue make me clean?
