do you think the odds are in your favor if you pray?

i understand, but wouldn't you want your daughter to learn a truth from herself rather than having her go through life with a chastity belt?
not that you would do that, but i think there are certain life lessons that are to be understood from an experience, you may say god broke that zipper which is also saying god doesn't want her to learn through experience.
see what i mean?
Some experiences are better put off until a later date. You are obviously not the single-parent father of a very attractive teenage daughter. Rationality does not apply here.

is it because you're uncomfortable with it?

no i am not. but she is a teenager and she will experience things nonetheless
with or without your knowledge...

and that's a really hard lesson for you and me as parents.

No, it's because the consequences can be permanent and she is not ready for that kind of responsibility yet. I be happy if she just fed her cat every day.

Tell me about it.
Unfortunately I'm not too old to remember my teenage years and the things I did. By comparison she's a saint.

ahhh.

do you think it's a matter of trust?
in her and in yourself. meaning, do you trust her to do the right thing by the way you brought her up?

How does her changing her outfit change the possibility of her having sex?

So far so good in the trust department. But it's a scary worlds out there when teenage sex and STD's are rampant. Teenagers like to experiment and test their boundaries. I'd be a fool not to be concerned.

I'm also trying to get her boyfriends to cut my grass if they want to date her. I've been praying for that!

She say's I'm old fasioned.

Yeah, which uses the Placebo Effect.

Stimulants cause reactions of the bodies sensors which in turn cause emotional responces, which stimulate thought and can stimulate reaction.

Thought can resist emotions as well as create new reactions. Thought can be presented as voice or written word.

Voice and written word are stimulates, eyes and ears are sensors.

So as much as a dogs bark can stimulate us to run. So can our own voice and written word can stimulate actions in us.

It has nothing to do with placebo. If the world can effect you, your own words can effect you as well. (IE prayer can effect you).

Besides its a study they have data, you can review the data and make your own opinion. The above is for others that will dimiss actual scientic work because of your words.

of course you should be concerned, i hope that isn't what you think i'm saying. because that is the furthest thing i would ever want to say.
yes these realities are out there to put your faith in her to the test.
maybe it's the part of letting go. as a mom i go through letting go stages all the time and it get's harder and harder. i can't imagine the fear of having a teenage daughter. and if prayer gets you through it wonderful.
i just wanted to bring attention to the fact that prayer is an admission of helplessness after your work is done and hope is all that's left.

Then you shouldn't have to ask such a silly question. :tsk:

Oh, I'm sorry, maybe you're blind.

Than you're persecuting your daughter for behavior of others. You're basically saying you don't trust teenage boys around your daughter in skimpy clothing, so if she happens to be raped in skimpy clothing you're going to blame her for wearing the outfit? That's a little sexist.

do you think prayer will help your favorite sports team win?
call me crazy, but i bet there are christians on both sides praying their team wins.
That's why the pious have to burn a goat or something to get their god on their side. Gods love that ****.

do you think prayer will help you get a certain job?
again i'm sure there is more then one christian looking for the same job
Depends on how good your resume' is. I'm pretty sure even the most devout employer would be weirded out if you prayed during the interview. I tried glossolalia once but I didn't get the job.

will it help you get accepted into a certain school?
especially when you are competing against other christians
See my note above about goat burning.

if you get sick, do you think the chances of being healed are higher because you pray?
No. But that's only because I pray to avoid getting sick in the first place.

how about when you're taking a long trip across the country by car, do you think prayer will help you get to your destination safely?
Yes, but I might have to attribute it to all the uppers and alcohol I consume on long road trips. Praying keeps my hands off the wheel so that may actually be a negative in the long run...

do you really believe god cares and thinks your needs are
more important than anyone else because it's you praying?
No, god cares about me more because I burn more goats to appease her ravenous hunger for burnt goat.
