I have to believe that at least the majority of religious people don't think that believing things without question is necessary in God's eyes. It just seems so ludicrous.

In fact, doesn't that seem to be a primary tenet of most of the major religions?

Of course, in reality, I think most people compartmentalize their religious "beliefs" from day-to-day reality and functioning in their regular lives - and probably tend to keep it compartmentalized, and relatively unexamined, for a reason.

God might and arguably should care whether people show certain inclinations. Or to put it in other words, God values moral virtues such as wisdom, courage, and love.

The one which makes sense, for example some people used to think that the idols can
connect them to God whereas some others rejected the idols.
What about belief in God? It has been proven to not be necessary to be a good person, treating neighbors as you would yourself, etc. So, does God require belief in himself?

No, I don't think so as we don't know God, so it's about believing his message.

I think the real question of concern here is:

Do you care what God thinks and believes?

The answer for most, if not all people, is NO, WHY SHOULD I?

If that is the case then why should God care about you at all?

If God exists, then of course I would care what he thinks of me. But, does God care what I believe, or does he just want me to be a good person living a good life?

Well, I would guess that you need to decide that either God does or does not exist first, don't you?

Or, possibly, god values ignorance, cowardice, and hate. Looking at existence, there's no indication which way god swings (if he's interested at all).

Yeah, there is no a priori way of knowing whether there is a God that is not worth our trouble.

But in that case, we have no reason to mind what he thinks about us.

Apart from scripture, what logical reason is there that God would have an interest in what we believe?

You believe that after all the engineering necessary to make life possible, and one sentient species- the only means we know of by which his creation can be explored, appreciated, experienced from within... he wouldn't take any particular interest in what they thought of it all?! does that seem logical to you? why would you believe such a thing?

I expect if a god exists and what it thought about us was important, it would make it clear that this was the case. I give god the same consideration that it gives me.

Fair enough. I guess so do I. Or I would if I thought him possible.

If we believe evil things then these count; thus religions are a great way to keep all those who don't discern morality properly out of Heaven.

Within my NDE, it wasn't that I believed in anything; it was more that I know Oneness. :innocent:

You must become blind so that you can see and deaf so that you can hear. Because you see and hear you do not understand, nor can you.
