Let's try this one more time.

You used the term "religious Pharisees." You didn't say religious doctors or religious lawyers or religious Dalmatians or religious clergy or religious anything else. You said Pharisees.

I'm trying to elicit from you your definition of a Pharisee. You seem to be indicating that Pharisees are fundamentalists, but if that is the case it is difficult to ascertain whether you are using the term as a synonym or whether you are asserting that one characteristic of a Pharisee is being a fundamentalist.

So, again, I ask what is your definition of a Pharisee?

Its not that complicated.

in return.....yes I do believe

I refrain from saying it works for me

Walking on water sounds pretty out there. What I believe works for me because of my expectations.

No, it’s not: most of modern Judaism comes from the Pharisaic tradition. Using “Pharisee” as an insult is pretty anti-Semitic.
If Pharisee were known to be hypocritical then it's just what it is. Don't make more of it. Don't make it nicer. Most people find it hard to say "sorry that's a true fact, and was not so nice" when it's close to home [doing so takes of the heat in 1 sec]. I didn't see @terry making any disrespectful comments. I just asked @RabbiO to tell me if Pharisee were not hypocritical (so that I could delete this wrong notion from my mind) and got no reply. So I know no better than that they were. Then this whole reply of yours doesn't make any sense as far as I see. I can't see any anti-Semitic here. Not even any insult.

Hello

I think on any forum your going to find people who are consumed with there own self importance and take pleasure in posting over intellectual and convoluted posts, I guess it strokes their ego, Fortunately on this site we have the option of hiding their pasts.

But I guess the world is full of different people with different agendas.

My friend, I can't be on the forum every minute of every day. Please do not jump to a conclusion that I am ignoring you or that I do not intend to respond simply because you do not get an immediate answer fro me.

The short answer to your question is that the Pharisees are misrepresented in Christian scripture.

@RabbiO: Thank you for calling me friend, my friend. And thank you for your clear answer [so I better delete that Bible verse out of my mind]. I'm Dutch, so had to look up "misrepresentation" = untrue or misleading statement of fact. That is a serious mistake in the Bible. I believe you, because I see more inconsistencies in the Bible, why not this one. But how come they never corrected this? If this is wrong in the Bible, is there anything "not wrong"? I mean this is something simple, nothing to do with teachings. [never would have thought this verse was wrong] Curious what Bible Forum has to say about this. Even better I tell Jesus it's highest time to give us a new update [His responsability I believe]. would solve many problems. And be very nice of course. And we need Him here.

And I don't expect you to be on the forum every minute. I am also not [except my first few days; pffff so many posts flying around, so busy with it]

And the one you replied to "stvdv" was not addressed to you. That one was addressed to @9-10ths_Penguin.

But I see now that I should have been a little more accurate, I wrote "I got no reply, so I know no better than they were...". Better would have been:"I got no reply [but that might come any minute]. So for now I know no better than they were...".

I had a colleague back when I taught that would recognise that in me ... reacting unnecessarily ... she always gently said the same thing ... "__________, consider the source." It's actually quite amazing to think that people are so caught up and attached in their feelings that they have a negative reaction to a total stranger's words on an internet forum.

That's great advice. It applies not just to faceless internet folks, but to all news sources. Even 20 years ago, we attempted to teach children critical reading skills, which included evaluating sources and messaging, but that is just SO much more important now than ever before.
