does masterbation make you feel guilty

I don't feel guilty, just disapointed that I can't stop myself. When I was a Christian, I thought it was a sin, so I tried to avoid it and of course that just made it more difficult and I felt bad about it because I felt like I was letting God down.

I still feel disapointed as an atheist because it makes me feel like a loser. I'm not saying people who do it are losers, I'm just saying that's how I feel. It's like I should be able to take control of my desires and not give in.

But to each their own... lol no pun intended.

Im not debating with you its how you feel..But what is wrong with giving into a desire that isnt hurting you or anyone else?

Why is it even a battle in the first place?..Like what is "gained" from abstaining and what is lost from satisfying your natural urge?

For me, it just feels like a weakness. It's not necessary, it's not like hunger, hunger keeps you alive, there's a big difference in my mind.

It's all about self control. If you can control your desires, what more do you need?

For me it is an empowerment.

If you can't lay down all the doctrines and superstitions that "control you",
how can you even know what it is you truly desire for yourself?

I agree about being able to control...But with this in specific desire I don't see "relieving" the urge is lack of control..I see it more as giving yourself permission.

I guess I don't see sexual urges as a weakness..and "handling" that (no pun intended) through MB is safe..and harms no one..

And it may not be necessary to keep you alive..But all the evidence support orgasm has health benefits for men and women...

I sort of look at it like excersise..you wont die from not doing it..You just wont be as healthy and fit .... :)

How is it empowering to give into desire? It's like having a craving for chocolate... how does eating it empower you?

How is it empowering to give into the desire to drive your own car? What makes one desire seem empowering to you, but another desire seem like a weakness? Society, perhaps?

It is empowering to me,
because for years and years and years I was told it was "wrong",
and I COULD NOT enjoy it. Enjoy myself. Enjoy the totality of my sexuality.... my self.

And now I do. And I love it. And it is empowering.

(sorry I wasn't clear enough in my last post)

I feel no guilt whatsoever. I definitely don't share that fact with my parents because it would be way too awkward and I don't see why I should discuss the topic of masturbation with my family because I really don't want to know details about their own practices and I doubt they want to know about my practices as well.

But I have no problems with the guilt others feel.
