Christians don't celebrate 'sabbath'. Rather they celebrate the 'Lord's Day'. Though, some christians uses such terms interchangeably.

God was pretty specific that the seventh day was to be the sabbath -and was to continue to be kept on the seventh day -so.... yah. It matters to God.

Men have said otherwise, but I'm gonna hafta go with God on this one.

Many ask "What Would Jesus Do?" but fail to consider what he DID do.

He kept the seventh day sabbath and the holy days given by God, sooooooo...... yah

The word "sabbath" does come from the root word to "be at rest". In Genesis, the Sabbath takes place on the Seventh Day (Gen.2:2,3)
It is called "Shabbath" because:
...on it (the seventh day) He rested (shavvath) from all His work (Gen. 2:3)
The "b" and "v" are the same letter in Hebrew. Grammar rules decide how it is pronounced.
