Personally, I would rather have my picture taken at an airport than be blown up by some lunatic with a bomb who does not want me to be alarmed while he sneaks close enough to blow himself up along with a bunch of innocent people.

The terrorists themselves do NOT want you to be alarmed. They want you to think everything is under control. Then they pop up and start shooting.

I repeat, the terrorists do NOT want you alarmed because you might do something to interfere with their next attack.
You have already fallen victim to what the terrorists want you to do, namely be alarmed and panic-stricken.

By repeatedly doing so, as they know they cannot defeat us militarily, they repeatedly work on us through "a death by a thousand cuts" until we cave in to what they want.

Therefore, we need to deal with them with a cool head, try and work closely with the Muslim community, especially since they have the greatest chance of warning us in advance of an impending attack, and not run around like Chicken Littles.

Who here is saying or implying otherwise?

Heck, back in 1991, I was searched five times in one hour at Ben Gurion Airport just outside Tel Aviv, and I didn't object. While standing at an intersection on Jaffe street in Jerusalem, I counted seven IDF with Ouzi's, and I certainly didn't object. While at services in 1999 in the same city, a young lady sitting in front of me had her weapon under her seat, and I certainly didn't object.

Well, for the last time, there are different ways to be alarmed. I do not mean we should run around in circles or stick our head in the sand. Being alarmed can mean being watchful and keeping a eye on what is going on. I can very easily see a terrorist quietly whispering "do not be alarmed" as he slowly creeps close enough to blow himself up or stick a knife in you. I am saying we should be alarmed enough to do whatever is needed to stop the danger.

Yep, that's why it's called terrorism. Terror-ism.

ter·ror
noun 1. extreme fear.
"people fled in terror"
synonyms: extreme fear, dread, horror, fear, and trembling, fright, alarm, panic

If the opposite of alarmed is to relax and say there is no problem, then people need to be alarmed because there is a problem.

There is a problem...

With heart disease and cancer because that's how most people die.

Otherwise, show me the statistics and how it normalizes to other events.

Yes, there is a problem. The point is some people are saying we should not be alarmed by it. I believe we should be alarmed by any problem and take steps to solve it. We should be alarmed by diseases and try to find a cure. If a bridge is about to collapse we should be alarmed enough to try to fix it. If terrorists are around we should be alarmed enough to do something. Anyone who is not alarmed is pretending there is no problem. There is danger!!! Be alarmed !!!

It appears that we may be using somewhat different definitions for the word "alarmed". To me, the word means an emotional response based on fright, and what some of us have been saying is that it's best to deal with terrorism with a more level-headed approach. Therefore, "concern with appropriate actions", yes; "alarmed", no.

Yes, and they want to kill people, which is exactly what they are doing. So I guess people should face death without being alarmed.
People should mourn the dead without allowing terrorism to disrupt their daily lives. The best way to fight these psychopaths is to not allow them to change our way of life.

Who is saying that we shouldn't be alarmed by Terrorism?! Did you fall for Trump's lie about what the Mayor of London said?

I think many just don't get he difference between being on alert and being alarmed. When you drive, for example, you must be alert to avoid accidents. Being constantly alarmed about potential accidents, however, is going to make driving a very difficult and stressful endeavor because you probably won't get into a wreck. You just have to be on the look out the greatly reduce the chances of that happening.

Fair enough. But, who is saying that we shouldn't be alarmed by terrorism? If you look at what the word means (below), I think everyone should at least feel "disturbed" by terrorism, if not "frightened" and "in danger". It only takes one of the three, though, so I feel like "alarmed" is a perfectly adequate term.

a·larm
əˈlärm/
verb
  1. cause (someone) to feel frightened, disturbed, or in danger.

Yes, the Mayor of London said people should not be alarmed by the recent events. This is giving a false feeling that there is no problem.
No he didnt. He said that people should not be alarmed by increased police presence. Look at his actual statement. The previous sentence makes it absolutely clear that he wasn't saying people shouldn't be alarmed by terrorism.
