How? It's supposed to be a higher being above such trivial human matters.
Nothing about us is trivial to God. If He had no compassion (which would require that He also had other emotions), He wouldn't be much of a God. He'd just be a "force" and He's not just a force; He's our Father in Heaven.

Assuming there is a God, if religious discord pains Him, then He is perfectly free to come down here and make a ruling and declare which religion is correct (if any).
Indeed, that is something to keep in mind. Even if we doubt it to be true for some reason or another.

That's been the history of humanity, at least back as far as we can find. And even within a religion it's been that way at least in the West with Catholic vs Protestant vs Sunni vs Shi'a, for example.

I've lived long enough to see that is gradually fading but not in a straight line.
It is interesting to notice (and reflect upon) the fact that most of the real bitter disagreements involve doctrines that are actually very similar to each other.

The Bible describes birth pain as a punishment for sin.

And what is sin but lack of faith that God is in control and everything is right with the world? Perhaps the passage I provided built upon the passage you provided?

You and I are gonna be good friends someday, you just don't know it yet. :) :) :)

What is the theological definition of sin?
I don't really know, but I would expect at least the best among them to overlap to a significant (preferably high) degree with "ethical failure".

Because if they do not, then the usefulness and legitimacy of those definitions is under severe jeopardy.

You think that God has a lack of faith that God is in control?

You're a hair's breadth from going on ignore, TBH.

Well, no. It started with Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and is largely confined to them. It's not even typical of all monotheists. Sikhs don't go round sniping at other religions, nor do Zoroastrians. Polytheists never snipe at each other, although we can get a little fierce when discriminated against or insulted by monotheists!

So many of the religions seem to snipe at each other, and I think that pains God.

God created this sort of discord according to the Bible when He destroyed the tower of Babel. It is His will apparently.

I like the different religions and their unique epic stories.

And our Mother.
