So many of the religions seem to snipe at each other, and I think that pains God.

Yeah, because God totally cares about all of the other religions that have nothing to do with him.

For all we know, God could be the one causing them to conflict.

“Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?” [Amos 3:6]

God is only known through our conscious experience. In the absence of direct evidence of a non-human being to fill the role, God is what our minds perceive Him/Her/It to be. What has evolved is a diversity of images/understandings of God. I would include Buddhism to the degree that it still, in practice, references mythical beings.

Cool. What do you see when you look in the mirror?

Well, no. It started with Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and is largely confined to them. It's not even typical of all monotheists. Sikhs don't go round sniping at other religions, nor do Zoroastrians. Polytheists never snipe at each other, although we can get a little fierce when discriminated against or insulted by monotheists!
It's true that not all religious groups attack others. But Buddhists are attacking Muslims. Hindus attacked Muslims. Hindus attacked Sikhs 1984 anti-Sikh riots - Wikipedia

I know. Different Christian schools of thought spend so much time attacking. Each other. Have you seen the debates between catholic and protestants? They can get so nasty.

Well, yeah. That's why we have so many inane comments like "God feels..." or "God wants..." or "God's mad as Hell...".
From time-to-time, I look at Abraham Lincoln and continue to find him truly exceptional in many ways. He understood this when he said or wrote:

Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right.

Nothing about us is trivial to God. If He had no compassion (which would require that He also had other emotions), He wouldn't be much of a God. He'd just be a "force" and He's not just a force; He's our Father in Heaven.
Technically that's anthropomorphising God. People like to do that. I question such an interpretation not because I think it's wrong or anything. But because I think we should try to be free of limiting ourselves when it comes to God. Placing our limitations upon him/her/it is to claim that God is limited.

Annoys God? Really? You think a God can be annoyed?
I was being flippant. Perhaps a God just shakes it's head and goes back to watching soap operas. I can't claim to know the nature of a God, I don't exactly hang out with any in my free time.
