Everyone Is Awesome: Lego to launch first LGBTQ+ set

Exactly. This is dumb.
Why?

Play with Legos if you want but this is more about adults than kids.
That is why it is marketed as an 18+ set. This set is designed for adults to purchase during pride month.

They need to stop pushing this stuff on preschool and elementary school kids.
They aren't because it isn't marketed for them. If a parent is going to push anything, I highly doubt they were waiting for a Lego set to be the catalyst.

Parents need to stop pushing it on their kids, too.
You don't get to dictate how others raise their kids, you aren't that important.

As for myself, I don't even own a rainbow flag anymore. I had those sorts of flags up for years.
Good for you?

True but we all eat and excrete from birth, but none of us worry about sex from birth.
Not quite true, actually. Ultra sound has shown fetuses manipulating their own genitals in utero, and every parent knows (whether they admit it or not), that their youngsters do take an interest.

I replied like that because Legos are toys associated with kids. You didn't mention it was a set for adults. It took @The Hammer to inform of us of that. You could've just mentioned that in reply to us instead of getting all rude.
you aren't that important.
Neither are you.

They do it because it feels good to touch themselves there, not because they want to have sex. Child "sexuality" is extremely different from adult sexuality. If your kid (younger than preteen) is really interested in sex, that's likely a sign that something is wrong and could point towards sexual abuse. But it depends on context.

Kids actually think more about such things than you imagine.

I wonder why sex scares the bejeebers out of so many people -- it's no less natural than eating or excreting.

I'm neutral on the toy myself, but as far as people being sensitive about sex.... well, I think eating and excreting are good comparisons. Its not that any of those three things are problematic, its all about the when and where.

A person may serve a dinner after their wedding, but will be annoyed if you bring beer and popcorn to the ceremony. When I have guests over, they're certainly welcome to use my bathroom, but if I catch them popping a squat in my dining room.... well, we're going to have words.

I recommend reading the article, it's not very long. But you get to hear from the designer of the set:

I love this set and I will be buying myself one. I have been a Lego fan since I was a kid and I will have no issue adding this set to my collection!

I see its silly. Is it supposed to be a collectors item since it's for adults?

Usually PRIDE stuff are more things like flags, jewelry, clothing, etc to show others an advocate as part of the LGBT community. I think most people toss their flags and go to work. What do Legos do for adults.

People being upset about this reminds me a little of the people who get upset about Starbucks cups not being Jesusy enough. They're toys. The colors represent being welcoming and accepting of all different kinds of people. It's a small token of openness and kindness to others. Who could possibly be against that?

That's amazing. Something that some consider not a life is actually aware and playing with itself? You must be kidding!

What do Legos do for adults.

They are fun, and a bonding activity like anything else. My wife and I build sets together.

Everything from the Harry Potter kids ones all the way up to the Expert architecture sets.

They are an artistic outlet as any other, and as an artistic outlet, suits a wide range of interests. LEGO group over the last decade has branched out into lines of products, with the adult builder in mind, my first post on the thread has a link to many of these expert sets for perusal.

Edit: Here is our 2019 Christmas one:

See I have a different stance. Yeah everyone goes to the toilet. Fine don’t discuss that outside of health issues with your chosen doctor. But we all discuss food ad nauseam. Whether that’s sharing recipes or discussing nutrition or hell just straight up “food porn.”

And I think we need to be open about sexuality with youngsters as well. I’m not saying show kids porn or discuss in depth sex positions with kids or anything like that. But encourage a frank, open and scientifically backed understanding of sex and sexuality from a young age. Maybe on the cusp of adolescence when hormones are about to “get geared up.” Maybe younger than that even
That way they are aware of the dangers, how to keep safe and figure out their own identity without shame or embarrassment.
Though what that has to do with a rainbow set of Legos is still beyond me but whatever

I think this is ridiculous and inane. It's also a kid's toy and should not be having anything to do with sex.
Yup. More dumb corporate pandering to win brownie points from the PC Libs, looking to pry money from people who live life according to sound bites and bumper sticker slogans.
