Evolution and Theory of Evolution

We're not going to make much progress if we have to go over the same simple points again and again, are we? I know it's hard for creationists, but please do try to take some of this in.

EVOLUTION IS NOT THE THEORY THAT GOD DID NOT CREATE THE UNIVERSE. That idea is not science, it's philosophy, and it's called Atheism. It is something different completely. Evolution works fine with the idea that God created the universe. Science does not study that question; it only asks, if God created the universe (or if He didn't) then HOW did He do so? NOT WHO, HOW. HOW. HOW. For that reason, we can all assume, for the purpose of this thread, that God did it. No problem there. For that reason, the argument "God did it" is not. NOT. NOT. a response to ToE. Yes, we know God did it. Now let's use science to figure out how.

Do you agree that science is a good way to learn about the natural world and how it works?

I would appreciate it greatly if I did not have to repeat this simple concept to you.

It appears that either you're working hard on not understanding this, or you're extremely stupid, or you're simply not being honest, or you're really, really rude. Otherwise I cannot understand why I'm having to repeat this kindergarten level explanation so soon.
You have no sense of humour! Did you see the smiley face I put at the end? It was a joke.:p

Great. So basically you have no argument. I trust I will never again need to have this conversation with you? That would be wonderful.

You need to know that under Poe's law, there is nothing you could say that is so ridiculous that an actual creationist would not say it.

I obviously have an argument, that's why you keep trying to correct me. Ie. argue your point.

And you need to know that under God's law, there is nothing you could say that is so ridiculous that an actual evolutionist would not say it. ;) 1 Corinthians 1:25: Because that which the world deems foolish in God is wiser than men's wisdom, and that which it deems feeble in God is mightier than men's might.:)

Evolution is NOT the theory that there is no God. That idea is called Atheism. It is not a scientific theory, but a philosophical one. Evolution is a specific scientific theory in a specific field, Biology, and is entirely consistent with the existence of God. I guess I'm going to have to repeat this a few times before you get it through your head. *is tired of trying to educate people who are working hard at remaining ignorant*

1 Corinthians seems to apply to you.

What does that mean?

Let's say you're holding a coin in your hand. What are the odds the next toss will come up heads? 50%. Now toss it. It's heads. The odds that it came up heads are now 100%.

Let's say you have a grid in front of you with the lines marked a,b,c, etc. and 1,2,3 etc. You take the change out of your pocket. What are the odds that the quarter will and on a4, a penny on b3, another penny on c3, a nickel on d1, a dime on d4 and another dime on a3? Astronomical. Now throw the coins on the grid. However they landed, the odds that they did so are now exactly 100%.

You can't do likelihood in retrospect.

And until you learn basic statistics, don't try to apply it to a theory you know nothing about; it only compounds your ignorance.

Just thinking, if someone says 'Did he buy bread today?' and you say 'I assume so.'. Is that the same as saying 'I know he bought bread today.'?
By they way, I have been wondering, why is it that when people learn about evolution, they lose their faith in God?

Do you agree that science is a good way to learn about the natural world and how it works?
In deed!

Ohhhhh riiiiiiight! I get it now! The penny has dropped. Pun intended. I just had to read it a bit slower, cos I'm like that!
What are the chances of the above happening again tho? It'll take me ages to Google it, so do you know? (Don't worry, I'm not kidding, I do want to know)

O.K., if you've absorbed the basic intro to science, and you're ready, I'll go into what ToE says.

For starters, populations can change over time. For example, I'm sure you'll agree, dogs have changed over time, and this

and this

are both quite different from the wolves they are descended from. Fine so far?

Before: astronomical. After: 100%.

O.K., and think about how that happens. The dog breeder doesn't do anything to an individual dog, and individual dogs don't change. Further, you never see a wolf give birth to a chihuahua; rather each and every dog mother gives birth to puppies that look very similar to her, after her own kind :). Each litter is just a tiny bit different from their parents. All the dog breeder does is continuously SELECT (key word) the puppies that have the traits she wants, and breed those puppies with each other, for generations. Just by selecting puppies that are a little smaller each time, eventually breeders end up with today's chihuahuas. That's artificial selection.

Ok, got it!
