Well gee...gosh...golly...darn....

Everything above our heads, spirals, spins and rotates.
So does the Earth beneath your feet.
The continual change that is this planet, induces continual change in the forms of life upon it.

Why is that so hard to believe?

Oh yeah....God did it!

If Evolution is a lie then so is religion. I mean both have not been "proven", yet have excellent points to point people in the right direction. And when you quit reading the Bible literally you can see where science and religion are actually akin. Who is to say what is a lie and what is reality? Reality is that we all have different views and a truly open mind or enlightened mind will in fgact be more tolerant of these different views and learn something from them to base a personal truth that will work for YOU...not everyone else. Churches are a way for those with similar views to congregate and worship or converse about their similar belief(s), without outside obstructions or objections. So in the words of The Beatles..."Let it be..." and don't tell people what is a lie when it's only a personal view that you see it as a lie.

Not so, evolution is a fact as much as gravity is a fact. Evolutionary biology is the basis for modern medicine.
The Theory of Evolution is the compilation of evidence that explains how evolution works, just as the Theory of Gravity explains how gravity works.
Religion itself has no basis in empirical evidence, and, while people are free to believe whatever religion teaches them, attempting to trump science with superstition is to ignore the evidence and facts available to anyone.

Tolerance is one thing. Intellectual dishonesty and willful ignorance is another.

Very true. And all are free to teach creationism in their Sunday school, but leave it out of actual science.

Evidence does not rely on 'personal views', nor is it subjective. Anyone who attacks biological facts, but has no problem receiving a flu shot, or taking antibiotics, is a hypocrite at best.

I agree, I was just stating that as a THEORY it means that until it is completely proven, with no way to dispute it (law) it isnt proven. I'm all for evolutionary theory! Being a student of anthropology, I would be a terrible one if I didn't subscribe to this theory. Just some people on this site aren't well versed on the subjects so I often forget to be more specific. As someone who grew up an Evangalistic Christian, and seeing their ... close minded views (personal opinion only here!!!), I have learned through my own studies of other religions and cultures/societies, to be more tolerant of views. I agree also with your statement about willful ignorance. Such as those who condemn an Atheist for not believing what what they do. As an Atheist, I really can't be condemned to hell because I don't believe in that concept of a spiritual heaven/hell. My own version of hell is dying with regrets. Heaven to me is dying in peace, knowing that I have come to terms with myself and the things I have done in my life. After my military experiences, I believe if I did have a religion, I would definitely go to the proverbial hell with no chance at salvation. Like Anne Rice wrote in The Vampire Lestat... "...Godlessness is innocence...". However, for those that are going to say that I use this as an excuse to oversex, drink, and party my life away, I hold myself to a certain code of conduct, where I know what is morally right and wrong. There are appropriate ways for man to behave within their societies and I do my best to co-exist with those around me.

In layman’s terms, if something is said to be “just a theory,” it usually means that it is a mere guess, or is unproved. It might even lack credibility.
But in scientific terms, a theory implies that something has been proven and is generally accepted as being true.
A theory is an explanation of a set of related observations or events based upon proven hypotheses and verified multiple times by detached groups of researchers.
Both a scientific theory and a scientific law are accepted to be true by the scientific community as a whole. Both are used to make predictions of events. Both are used to advance technology.
In fact, some laws, such as the law of gravity, can also be theories when taken more generally. The law of gravity is expressed as a single mathematical expression and is presumed to be true all over the universe and all through time. Without such an assumption, we can do no science based on gravity's effects. But from the law, we derived the theory of gravity which describes how gravity works, what causes it, and how it behaves. We also use that to develop another theory, Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, in which gravity plays a crucial role. The basic law is intact, but the theory expands it to include various and complex situations involving space and time.
The biggest difference between a law and a theory is that a theory is much more complex and dynamic. A law describes a single action, whereas a theory explains an entire group of related phenomena.
An analogy can be made using a slingshot and an automobile.
A scientific law is like a slingshot. A slingshot has but one moving part--the rubber band. If you put a rock in it and draw it back, the rock will fly out at a predictable speed, depending upon the distance the band is drawn back.
An automobile has many moving parts, all working in unison to perform the chore of transporting someone from one point to another point. An automobile is a complex piece of machinery. Sometimes, improvements are made to one or more component parts. A new set of spark plugs that are composed of a better alloy that can withstand heat better, for example, might replace the existing set. But the function of the automobile as a whole remains unchanged.
A theory is like the automobile. Components of it can be changed or improved upon, without changing the overall truth of the theory as a whole.
Some scientific theories include the theory of evolution, the theory of relativity, the atomic theory, and the quantum theory. All of these theories are well documented and proved beyond reasonable doubt. Yet scientists continue to tinker with the component hypotheses of each theory in an attempt to make them more elegant and concise, or to make them more all-encompassing. Theories can be tweaked, but they are seldom, if ever, entirely replaced.

A theory is developed only through the scientific method, meaning it is the final result of a series of rigorous processes. Note that theories do not become laws. Scientific laws must exist prior to the start of using the scientific method because laws are the foundation for all science.

Hello, everyone,
The only lie that may be greater than Evolution, is,Man does NOT die. Why do the majority of people believe these falsehoods??? Because Satan is the ruler of this world, he is misleading the entire inhabited earth, John 12:31,14:30, 16:11, Rev 12:9, 1John 5:19, 2Cor 4:3,4.I wonder who it is that wants us to believe ALL THESE LIES?? Could it be the first lier?? Gen 3:4, John 8:44.
Science knows that Abiogenesis is impossible!! They know that NO animal or plant KIND can reproduce anything, but it's own KIND. This LAW is stated several times in the Bible, Gen 1:21,24,25.
If the BIG BANG really happened, who created the Singularity, that all the universe came from???
Science also knows the Law. EXPLOSIONS CAUSE CHAOS, THE GREATER THE EXPLOSION< THE GREATER THE CHAOS. Why is the universe in such order?? The COSMOS, means order!!
Science knows that everything has a cause. Keep going back and you come to the FIRST CAUSE=GOD, then God's son, Jesus=second cause, and so on, until now.
Why has man left out God, the one who created this magnificent universe and our unique earth. Why does not man give the glory that He deserves??
THINK!! Man has several branches of Science that are trying to copy principles in nature. Man looks at nature and marvels at the great design, then he wants us to believe that the much greater thing that he is trying to copy was not designed.
I, myself, have no confidence in anyone who wants me to put faith in something so ridiculous.

Hello, everyone,

I know of no scientific theory that advocates that humans do not eventually die.
Science knows that Abiogenesis is impossible!!
There is a great deal about abiogenesis that is unknown, but it is not imposable. Investigating the unknown is what science is for. Speculation is part of the process. As long as the speculations can be tested, they are scientific.
And this thread is about evolution, not abiogenesis.
They know that NO animal or plant KIND can reproduce anything, but it's own KIND. This LAW is stated several times in the Bible, Gen 1:21,24,25.
Actually, what science knows is that biological evolution is a fact. There are no "Laws" that are scientifically accepted from the reveled revelations of the Bible.
If the BIG BANG really happened, who created the Singularity, that all the universe came from???
Who says it had to be created? Again, evolution, not the Big Bang Theory. Stay on track.
Science also knows the Law. EXPLOSIONS CAUSE CHAOS, THE GREATER THE EXPLOSION< THE GREATER THE CHAOS. Why is the universe in such order?? The COSMOS, means order!!
Here you are misusing the Laws of Thermodynamics, a common tactic among creationists.
Science knows that everything has a cause.
This is generally accepted as true.
Keep going back and you come to the FIRST CAUSE=GOD, then God's son, Jesus=second cause, and so on, until now.
This would be simply an assumption on your part, and involves absolutely no evidence.
Why has man left out God, the one who created this magnificent universe and our unique earth. Why does not man give the glory that He deserves??
More speculation with no empirical evidence.
THINK!! Man has several branches of Science that are trying to copy principles in nature. Man looks at nature and marvels at the great design, then he wants us to believe that the much greater thing that he is trying to copy was not designed.
Nature and the study of nature and natures laws are indeed worthwhile endeavors. However you are mistaken in thinking that science attempts to disprove God. God, or a designer are supernatural and not a part of scientific investigation.
I, myself, have no confidence in anyone who wants me to put faith in something so ridiculous.
It is you who rely on faith. Evolutionary biology is a fact.
Will you now ignore biology and rely on faith healers to cure you and those you love?

For every cause there is an effect, and for every effect there is a cause.

Such things are taught in grade school....that's where I got it.

Under this topic evolution is the effect....God caused it.
(that's not to say His immediate presence is required....evolution is a process in motion...and the motion was 'caused' a long time ago.)

"God" is an unknown. How are you going to go about presenting some evidence of the assertion he/she/it exist? Or is the statement...'God did it'...simply a belief you have?

Jtartar touched on it with a question.
The singularity is the pivot point.

'Something' created the singularity.
I call Him the Almighty.

If the singularity had simply exploded, the result would be an ever increasing hollow sphere.
We don't see that when we look up.

The rotation had to be in place ...before...the expansion.
A firm pinch....a hard snap...one large bang..and presto!..spirals...pinwheels....spinning globes....orbits...etc.etc.etc.

God did it.

But the Singularity has nothing to do with evolution.

Ignoring that... I can see where you're coming from. :p However, what you're saying isn't science. It's faith.
