He also said that it only works on conservatives. Trump supporters are the best. Liberals don't take the bait.
Tom

I seriously doubt that liberals always avoid taking the bait, but it would be interesting if some group of researchers did a study or two comparing how often liberals and conservatives take the bait. It might turn out that one group is more easily baited than the other.

That NPR article disagrees. "I see it regularly" begs for say 5-10 solid examples.

Coler says his writers have tried to write fake news for liberals — but they just never take the bait.

(and)

"We've tried liberals. It never worked. You'll get debunked within the first 2 comments."
In this election, NPR & others reported that Trump said all Mexicans are rapists & criminals.
This was at best a highly inaccurate interpretation of his actual quote.
At worst...they knowingly lied.
Liberals are prone to believe things which give them joy, just as are conservatives.
Is one worse than the other?
I don't know.
But I wouldn't trust the guy quoted in NPR, since as a Democrat, his bias would not only creep into his judgement, but also into the fake news stories he tries. Perhaps the most convincing fake news is that created by an opponent.

There are more examples if needed.

That's not inaccurate, he said his statement in the nationally televised debate. The guy said the most retarded things, he definitely could have chosen wiser ways of putting things.

Check what he actually said.
He didn't claim what you think.
I agree though that he's poor at expressing himself.

Regardless of his political persuasions, it was obvious to me from listening to him that he's in it for the money.
Fake news sells well to Trump supporters and much less so to Clintonistas. I have seen the same thing. On Dailykos blatantly false stuff gets called out much faster and more thoroughly than on RedState. Regardless of the source or political persuasions.

I don't know who gets called on their bogus news faster.
I just see it on both sides.

Oh I know what he said, heard it several times and I still .
What he said was indeed facepalmworthy.
But I object to the media changing what he said in order to make it more inflammatory.

One of the most outrageous examples was NPR's attributing a quote from Tina Fey
playing Palin on SNL to the real Palin. These people need better fact checking.

I prefer exaggeration to flat out making things up. Like when Clinton accused trump of wanting to blow people out of the water, but he actually said shoot. The difference means very little to me at that level.

Wait are you saying that the girl on SNL isn't the real Palin? What the heck!

Of course, not all inferences & paraphrasings are significant.
But that doesn't mean the significant misrepresentations are acceptable.

What I see is conservative people buying whatever works for them, no matter how obviously false. That's why, for instance, the birthed thing went on and on.
Liberals are quite likely to buy distortions like "Trump said all Mexicans are rapists". That is not the same thing. What Trump said was similar, although he didn't actually say "all". And it was common knowledge what he actually did say. That's not the same as the point blank lie about an FBI agent dying mysteriously. Or the many other lies that commonly make the circuit on conservative blogs and in the comments under articles.
Seriously, I see remarkable amounts of this from conservatives. I don't think that better informed conservatives will call out lies the way better informed liberals do.

Does mean that you see it only for conservatives?

Liberals bought the alt-right = white supremacy claim hook line & sinker.
Did any of their own call the others on this?

Are you now claiming that you have evidence that this is not true?
Did I claim that?
No.
I've only said that lefties & the media eagerly bought the claim without any evidence.

To prove it untrue would be difficult for me.
I know of counter-examples, but those who've already finished their
Kool-Aid would something more statistical & irrefutable. I don't have that.

But you did cite it as an example of fake news, you have provided no reason for thinking it is an example of fake news.

I maintain that a claim made without evidence is fake.
Example....
There are 42 angels on the head of each pin.
You cannot prove me wrong, but my claim is pulled from thin air.

And you believe my claim that the alt-right is a white nationalist movement is pulled from thin air. I understand.

Eventually we are going to have to accept that Liberals tend to be young people, young people tend to look things up in a way that no other generation has ever had the privilege or luxury of doing while young. Conservatives are largely old people, those who make up the bulk of Fox News viewers and physical newspaper readers.

From my perspective, I can almost always tell the bias of someone's sources by what they are claiming. Liberal bias and Conservative bias do not sound alike, and the Liberal bias is more generally grounded in reality.
