Favorite music from the 80's?

Yes, even the costumes are practically the same through much of Southern and Eastern Europe. If these women pulled up their skirts so they're not hanging down their hip bones, and pulled down their shirts so their whole mid-section wasn't left unconstricted, they'd be dressed like rigid Christian Slavs. :D
LOL.
They even dance like my grandparents did to polka.:D

I loved the soundrack to Chess (from which "One Night in Bangkok was taken).
also, "Don't You Forget About Me," as well as "Melt With You." (My band used to cover those songs...

"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" is a fave of mine, too. Anybody remember The Go-Go's and Men Without Hats? Loved Howard Jones and Scandal, too.

There was a song that came out in 1983 called "AEIOU, Sometimes Y" by Ebn-Ozn. Remember that one? And who could forget Toto IV???

I loved the 80's music -- wish more of the "nostalgia stations" would play more of it.

"Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits is still one of my favorites to play in the car.

Hahaha...........Sojourner, I remember everything you mentioned! I love to sing along to:

"The Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats
"We Got the Beat" and "Vacation" by the Go-Go's
Duran Duran tunes like:

"Hungry Like the Wolf"
"Girls on Film"
"Rio"

The album of "Chess" IS good! My older brother and I used to wear it out.

Some of the ballads were really good back then, too. You could always count on "Open Arms" and "Faithfully" by Journey.

Then we got our *hair bands* that are the majority of our mp3's and our CD's at home:

Def Leppard
Motley Crue
Poison
Quiet Riot - if only for "Bang Your Head" and "Come on Feel the Noize"
Whitesnake
ZZ Top (not really a hair band per se, but "Legs" and "Sharp Dressed Man are great to listen to with the volume up)
Skid Row
Dio
Ratt
AC/DC (of course)

Gotta hand it to the women who could rock on in the '80s............Heart and Pat Benatar were my faves, as well as Lita Ford.

Then there are the all-time favorites - this has to be Appetite for Destruction by Guns n' Roses and pretty much anything by Van Halen from the '70s until Sammy Hagar left the band. Favorites from Van Halen (which is represented the most in our music collection besides The Beatles):

"Panama"
"Hot for Teacher"
"Jump"
"Finish What Ya Started"
"Why Can't This Be Love"
"Right Now"
And of course........one can never mention Van Halen without paying respects to "Eruption." <----Yes, yes, I know.......not exactly '80s but it still must be brought up for Eddie's finger-tapping.

I'm also a big fan of '80s hip-hop and rap, but my mind will explode if I continue on this course of '80s nostalgia. Love the decade!

Oh, man! My band played the he11 out of AC/DC!!! Funny thing is, my 14 year-old son has a yen for AC/DC, too...

Sometimes I have trouble reconciling my biker-bar-bad-band-boy image (I used to be in a band called "Search & Seizure) with the fact that I'm a pastor...but then...most of the people God used in the Bible were questionable...

They're timeless, and they're one of the best when it comes to hard rock that you can party to. I remember when it was a rarity if someone didn't know the words to "You Shook Me All Night Long."

She was a fast machine
She kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman that I ever seen
She had sightless eyes
Telling me no lies
Knockin' me out with those American thighs.............

We didn't do that one. We did Back in Black, Dirty Deeds, Have a Drink on Me, Highway to Hell, and a few others. We did a lot of Skynyrd, too. In fact, several old bikers told us that they saw Skynyrd "before the crash," and they thought we played Skynyrd live better than Skynyrd did.

Relax..............remember what Frankie Goes To Hollywood says? :D

Your rockin' self doesn't bother me at all. If it makes you feel better, remember that this Buddhist still puts in her CD's of N.W.A. or Eazy-E and speaks all ghetto about poppin' a cap in some fool. :p

You ought to share any recordings your band had, then, if you were that good.

We did produce a CD of original music. If I knew how to copy-and-post, I'd give y'all a bite. Unfortunately, everything else is on videotape...
