Favorite music from the 80's?

I quite like both "The six wives of Henry VIII" and my personal fave was 'Journey to the centre of the earth". (I still love that one and still have both on vinyl.) Added new dimensions to the term "power chords".

I have a sneaking feeling you might wet yourself looking through my old record collection. I specialized in "techno" although in that era I referred to it simply as "Space rock".

There's another old Rick Wakeman that (I think) comes in between "Journey" and "Six Wives." Can't remember the name of it, though!

I finally remembered the name of the guy I couldn't remember! Georgio Moroder. Anybody remember him?

Also...When I worked at the Radidio station, I cabbaged onto a demo that nobody wanted, but I thought it was pretty cool. It was a group called "The Monroes." I've never heard of them before or since. Anyone heard (or heard of) them?

Also...Anyone ever heard of a group (I want to say their first album was '79) called "Lazy Racer?"

Speaking of 80's music...can anyone tell me who the band was on the "Wedding Singer" soundtrack that did the remake of "Money" by the Beatles???
Was it female lead singer? Female lead/80's cover, my guess would be The Flying Lizzards. I love that cover! :p

My favorite 80s tunes in no particular order, heavy on the danceability:
I wanna be sedated - the Ramones
What I like about you - the Romantics
Lucky Number - Lena Lovich
Rock the Casbah - the Clash
Mexican Radio - Wall of Voodoo
People Who died - Jim Carrol Band
Lust for life - Iggy Pop
Bigmouth Strikes Again - the Smiths
We Got the Beat - the Gogos
Private Idaho - the B52s
Radio, Radio - Elvis Costello
Elivs is Everywhere - Mojo Nixon
So Alive - Love n Rockets
Let's Go to Bed - the Cure
Istanbul, not Constantinople - They might be giants
White Wedding - Billy Idol
Dead Man's Party - Oingo Boingo
Tainted Love - Soft Cell
Money - the Flying Lizzards
Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode
Walkin in L.A. - Missing Persons
Bizzare Love triangle - New Order
Party at Ground Zero - Fishbone
Free Nelson Mandela - the Specials (ok, some of these songs are dated, but this one is still great)
I want candy - Bow wow wow
Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves
Burning Down the House - Talking Heads
Goody Two Shoes - Adam Ant

At least this is what's on my itunes 80's dance list :D

We didn't do that one. We did Back in Black, Dirty Deeds, Have a Drink on Me, Highway to Hell, and a few others. We did a lot of Skynyrd, too. In fact, several old bikers told us that they saw Skynyrd "before the crash," and they thought we played Skynyrd live better than Skynyrd did.
Oh my gosh I love that one, "Shook me all night long." I gotta find it and pour some sugar on me from deaf lepard.
HERE IT IS!!:guitar1: I blast this one in my car all the way!:D

OMG, how on earth did I miss this thread!? :thud: Love, love, love my 80s music! My mp3 player consists of 95% 80s music, as does the music on my computer.

That's exactly what I was going to say when I saw the thread title. :p I couldn't possibly list them all.

Some bands I haven't seen posted yet:
a-ha
Icehouse
The Bangles
Cold Chisel
Mental As Anything
Starship (did anyone mention Starship? I don't remember...)
Pseudo Echo
Spandau Ballet

Some totally random songs that always remind me of times spent listening to mixed 80s cassettes with my best friend whenever I hear them:
'Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop Cumma Cumma Wang Dang' - Monte Video and The Cassettes
'Living Doll' - Cliff Richard and The Young Ones
'Rock Me Amadeus' - Falco
'Pop Musik' - M
'Computer Games' - Mi-Sex
'Stutter Rap' - Morris Minor and the Majors
'Born To Be Alive' - Patrick Hernandez
'Star Trekkin' - The Firm
'She Blinded Me With Science' - Thomas Dolby
'Da Da Da' - Trio
'Ca Plane Pour Moi' - Plastic Bertrand
'Shiny Shiny' - Haysi Fantayzee
'Love and Pride' - King

And I really have to stop now, because that's not even close to scratching the surface.

Oh God...I don't think I could actually list it all here. At least half the songs on my computer are from the 80s. One of my favorites though is One Night in Bangkok by Murray Head.
I was watching this song just yesterday (and supplying the girl who works with me with random facts about it)! :D We have a computerised 'jukebox' at work - it has thousands of songs on it and plays the music videos on huge plasma screens in dining room. If it's not on the 80s playlist, I'll sneak into the office and either change it over, or line up a whole heap of songs I feel like hearing. It's great!

I can't, but I can remember most of the words to "Love Shack" and "Rock Lobster."
I reckon the jukebox played 'Love Shack' about 4 times while I was at work yesterday (it's on random and tends to repeat songs a lot). I hated 'Rock Lobster' until I learnt all the words - saw that yesterday too. One of the guys I work with also loves it, and we'll always bounce around the kitchen singing it when it comes on/I put it on. Or if I'm stuck making coffee at the time, I'll be bouncing on the spot singing it. I get some odd looks from customers when it's playing lol.

One last thing - when people are posting links to YouTube videos, can you please label them? Some of us only have a dial-up internet connection. :p

Outside of the Origins of the beauty that is melodic Metal and Alternative (the real stuff, not this Indie crap) I really can't think of much 80s music I like!

A local Mormon group.

I met the father and mother of the Jets one day at the grocery store and we exchanged numbers and later talked. He had approached me, cold turkey, becuase he was into a multi level investment biz and I was into day trading, still am, and he wanted to exchange ideas/tips about the current market.

A real cool guy he helped encourage me in my day trading pursuits...
