It almost does sound like a guitar solo, since its tones are high. But it just goes to show the beuty of bass when more than the top four or five frets are used.
Too bad I can't hit the first note, that high E, as I only have 20 frets, so I play an octave lower, meaning I have to shift a lot.

I'd prefer Zombie Cliff over whoever they have now. He could fix things up.

They need a bassist that can, and will, play The Call of Ktulu and Orion at live shows. I read somewhere that Newstead didn't like playing The Call, and whoever they got now, I'm surprised can even hit a single note right.

Yeah, Randy Rhoads was the reason I started playing Eons ago. So, I'd have to say that he is no doubt my favorite.
But, here are other favorites:

Steve Vai
Joe Satriani
Angus Young (simplistic but tight and a master of the petatonic scale)
Alex Lifeson (under rated because Neil and Geddy seems to have eclipsed him)
Adrian Smith and Dave Murray (Dual leads in Iron Maiden, very solid players)

Les Claypool is an alien.

Allthough not my favorite, but one definitly under-rated guitarist is David Mustane.

I guess I might surprize you guys, but one of my favourites is Bryan May, when he played "God save the Queen" at the Jubilee concert; I taped it, and put in on my hard drive. It was quite an incredible performance.;)

:D He's not half bad. Rocking out to Queen is not uncommon in my friends houses.
