For some, what is good & lawful is having an
armed government & disarmed populace.
Like pretty much every other democracy in the world.

I didn't know there is a contest, nor do I accept that premise. How reasonable do you think is is to fear death by gun violence?
You are more likely to die from covid.
You are more likely to die in an unintended accident.
You are more likely to commit suicide.
Than be a victim of gun violence.

Does that make you feel better?
I don't live in a republic and yet here too law rules. Complicated isn't it.True. The nice thing about a republic is that law rules not random opinions.
Yeah but other countries don't have freedum.Like pretty much every other democracy in the world.
Not everyone is so lucky. In a democracy any and all laws can change over night. Pretty scary thought.I don't live in a republic and yet here too law rules. Complicated isn't it.

Probably because they don't want to die.No contest, just wanted to know if people were afraid of being shot by a gun
For many, yes. At 77, I'm less concerned. For me no but is that rational?
Laws can change in any country. Even your country, which aside from being a republic is also a liberal democracy. Did you not realise that? Not everyone is so lucky. In a democracy any and all laws can change over night. Pretty scary thought.
And totalitarian states.Like pretty much every other democracy in the world.

Well no, not overnight. All democracies have checks and balances, some more than others. In the US you have a written constitution to protect your rights, they can’t just be taken away from you; your life can, though, or the life of a loved one, in the blink of an eye, by anyone with a gun.
Things can be changed, however it is a sizable process far more than a regular law.Laws can change in any country. Even your country, which aside from being a republic is also a liberal democracy. Did you not realise that?

I hear your constitution can even be amended? Or is it set in stone for all eternity, even if circumstances have significantly changed since its composition?
