Fellowship - Faith alone Christians only

Special Revelation

Active Member
This is an outgrowth of *Paul's* wonderful Christian fellowship Thread. We want to be equally yoked in encouraging each other in the Christian Faith. It is not a debate thread, but rather, a Thread to encourage, edify and love each other in Christ. Therefore, please join Paul and I in a wonderful fellowship in Christ. Here are the minimum requirements to be equally yoked. We adhere to the deity of Christ, the Trinity, Scripture Alone, and justification by faith alone.

If you are not sure what justification by faith alone means, you are welcome to fellowship with us. However, if you understand what justification by faith alone means and reject it, we ask that you do not join us on this particular Thread. Our goal is to glorify God and enjoy Him together as one in Christ. We believe Jesus is Lord, Savior, and our greatest Treasure. Let's grow in the grace and knowledge together, to the praise of His glorious grace!

To live is Christ and to die is gain.

The Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.

Thanks brother, I had almost lost the will to start all over again.

I just noticed something,

certain people are fond of these verses:

1st Corinthians 8:5-6 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him

as though it means that there is more than one God but to us or the only one we worship there is one God, but look at the preceeding verse.

1st Corinthians 8:4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.

Surely that preceeding statement is the ground on which you understand the next verses on the same subject, that the other gods mentioned are merely idols.

What think ye brother?

I believe you have the one true interpretation. People worship many false gods which are idols. We as Christians have to be cautious too when our hearts are pulled to our own idols instead of God. Have you noticed that last verse in 1 John? It was written to Christians, right?

You know brother people make a big deal about all our differences but the doctrines that you listed above if someone holds to wil lalways be my brother provided they believe the no brainers like the ressurection, virgin birth etc. We all get along much better than people suppose. Many protestant groups are inter denominational for which there is no provison in the dir - that is they recognise all denominations or churches that hold to the basic fundamentals of the faith and do not add to them.

I think the enemies of the gospel like to make more of our differences than anyone else to sow the seeds of discord amongst brethren and we often fall for it. The remedy for this is to each prefer each other to ourselves.

Paul, this appears to be a parallel passage to your posting on 1 Cor.

Acts 17 - In Athens

16While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols. 17So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there. 18A group of Epicurean and Stoic philosophers began to dispute with him. Some of them asked, "What is this babbler trying to say?" Others remarked, "He seems to be advocating foreign gods." They said this because Paul was preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection. 19Then they took him and brought him to a meeting of the Areopagus, where they said to him, "May we know what this new teaching is that you are presenting? 20You are bringing some strange ideas to our ears, and we want to know what they mean." 21(All the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there spent their time doing nothing but talking about and listening to the latest ideas.)

22Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: "Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. 23For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you.

24"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. 25And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. 26From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 28'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'

29"Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by man's design and skill. 30In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead." 32When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, "We want to hear you again on this subject." 33At that, Paul left the Council. 34A few men became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others.

Beloved(or little children) keep yourselves from idols. That's true brother, it was written to Christians, I guess then as no Christian would be so easily decieved as to worship a physical idol (one would hope) then idolatry of the heart is what is meant. Good point brother, I have so much to learn.

There are Liberal Protestant pulpits with women pastors who teach that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. It appears the Anglican pastor on this site is a universalist, implying all mankind has been reconciled to God, apart from faith in Christ.

In speaking about idols, some Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, and even Doppelganger say that Sola Scriptura is idol worship. The Word of God just drives us to our great God and Savior. I have found through the meditating on the Word of God, I am enabled to have greater affection and love for God. I also found that the best way to understand and discern the will of God... is through constant mediation and study of the Holy Bible. God the Holy Spirit enlightens us primarily through the Word of God.

I really can't understand this, it feels to me like the bible is skimmed over for passages that agree with this preconceived notion, you surely wouldn't get this from taking all that the bible says about salvation and salvation is not presented in the bible as being apart from faith, it is the means through which we recieve Gods grace, as though faith breaks open the dam and grace comes flooding in.

Teaching that Christians and muslims worship the same God is mere crazy talk to me, I have had a few debates with muslims and there are some who believe that too. I think such a person has disregarded the authority of God's Word or even it's inspiration.

Ahh yes bibliolatry, lol. What nonsense. We love the bible because it points us to God not because it is God, when a person writes something you have their thoughts from their innermost being, we have that of God, and also the historical dealings of God with man from which we learn about Him and promises so precious for the future. To love something dearly is not to worship it.

I just label this cafeteria type theology as religious humanism, or spiritual humanism, or even Christian humanism. When you think about it, there are only two religions in this world. Or you can say that there are two Faiths in this world. All who have been united to Christ in reality are in the True Faith, by the grace of God alone. The second religion is everything else combined as one big deception. Maybe that's the reason for such emphases of ecumenicalism, pluralism, or unity at all cost... because in reality all other religions are really one. Will I get a negative warning PM for that comment?

Yes  Human acheivment and divine accomplishment.

This is bible truth, the bible is full of choices and ultimatums, you are on one path or the other.

I think that is true also, the only doctrine that means anyhting to people these days is unity and the only sin is schism. They don't realise that they are the divisive ones by introducing or promoting false teaching and causing divisions.

I will speak for my brother Paul. We both welcome you with open arms on this Thread! Hey, you mentioned Bible Truth. There was a guy named Bible Truth on this site that was banned. By reading his postings, he appeared to be a very grounded Christian. Did you know him?

Yes, I remember reading some of his posts from one of the one on ones in which he apparently got banned before he could finish. His posts seemed to reflect a strong faith.

Thanks kmkemp for your faithful witness to the truth. You have always been a big encouragement to the Christians on this site. May God continue to enable you to share the love of Christ wherever you go.

I believe in One God and believe it is only through the grace of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior that we are saved.

May God shine his light on us all that we may humble ourselves before him and share his message to all who are willing to listen and joined to the yolk.
