Except for Trump, eh.
OMG. You are sooooo fixated about Trump. Trump has nothing to do with the state of solo females traveling. Yet you injected him into the discussion. Trump truly lives in your head 24/7 rent free.

Two suggestions.

Rule of the right honourable Colt, and, of
Smith and Wesson.
I understand the sentiment of being prepared for self defense. However it has been my experience that when in a foreign land retreat and escaping unscathed is the preferred option.

Knives?
Pepper spray?
I had to look up the knife law. Under three inches,
non locking.

My little swiss army knife is ok coz its only a
Weapon by silly usa secirity laws.

Any spray is illegal.

I know HK very well, and would not remotely
risk being in sketchy places. Plus super secure home.

I dont feel unsafe here though i still have to ( try to)
avoid intrusive what- if thoughts.

If there was anything that told about any country more than much else it might be this - as to females travelling alone within a country. Given that I have done much as the female in this article, although my cycling was done in probably more open countries as to freedoms and where I would never have had her experiences.

This perhaps says more about the various countries one might cycle through than much else, and as to attitudes towards females, even though it is probably apparent to many females who do solo travelling as to this still being a lot more dangerous than for any males (especially so in many countries) - when it just shouldn't be - so why is this and still so?

Culture or religion or both, and will such ever change?

Perhaps because women have pretty much always been more vulnerable than men to sexual assaults across the globe. Most rapists are men and most men are heterosexual.

Putting that aside for a moment, how can someone conceive the act of cycling in the middle of nowhere all by yourself as a safe activity regardless of one's gender?

If the option is open its ALWAYS better to run
than like shooting someone.

In my experience neither was possible.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I hate staying home. Basically, I just won't do it. Going to Seoul, Korea soon, by myself! I love it!

One of the things I will do there is go to Jeju Island. I am really looking forward to that.

True that females will in general be more vulnerable to assault no matter where they are but this was Turkey, and not so far away from the rest of Europe where I suspect travelling alone as a female is not so unusual or particularly risky. Outside of Europe and in some other countries the likelihood of being attacked is probably more of an issue, and the same goes for males. The recent incident as to a male and female couple of cyclists indicates this - in India I believe.

If you've not been in Korea, i will help you
predict that you will love it Korea is amazing.

Is Hong Kong on your list? My home town!
But I will still be kind of between here and
Singapore, another really great place to live or visit.

Im no a stay- home either!

Biden isnt going to do anything but the
opposite of fighting crime.

With the border they actively encourge scofflaws.
Biden is actually a big fan of crime...as long
as government is the one committing it.
Of course, his opposition loves crime even
more.

Add in that the more who dare,
the more will be picked off, and,
the more normal the attrition will
be.
Yeah, no, that's the beautiful thing. The more who go, the more they can be visible and demand change.
That's how all the big changes worked in the history of feminism

I wish you luck, and hope you go
forth armed.
I am never armed, safe with my general aura of arrogance

I doubt that @Audie is willing to personally sacrifice
her own safety on the off chance that she'll improve
the general safety of solo travelling women.
Ta bu shi bun le.
Is that how it's said?

Then I guess I am the dumb one.
Though, admittedly , I mostly do it because I 'm an introvert and I have no patience to wait for others or adjust my plans to someone else's preference.

It's not a dumb idea.
@Audie is an individual.
I addressed only her personal situation.

Itchy Boots does this but on adventure style motorcycles. She's been traveling the world on motorbikes for a few years. She may have a support team near by. But recently she traveled through war torn Angola, even with support or security this is dangerous.
