FEMINIST ONLY: Gender abolition and trans identity

VoidCat

Use any and all pronouns including neo and it/it's
I've encountered gender abolitionists who were still attached to the idea of binary biological sexes, so some of them definitely have issues with transgender people. But I don't know how representative these people are of the general concept/ideology.
Those are TERFs aren't they?

My problem with gender abolition is that there are a lot of people who have gender identities who would, I think, feel like their identity was under attack if people tried to abolish gender.

I personally don't have a gender but I certainly don't support the abolition of gender. I'm not for or against gender. I'm neutral on gender. And I'm a feminist because I think that women should have equal rights along with men and non-binary people such as myself.

Our gender is human first. Then whatever we want to think, believe and act upon by choice as a human. Maybe just stating human for everyone and then quote.....I always said humans were equal.

As others have said, gender abolition is a TERF idea more tied to the "gender critical" crowd than anything else. You know, the one that got banned on reddit a while ago for being filled with hate and targeting people.

If everyone just quoted we are all human first and diverse, it about says what needs to be said.

I don't know about you but I am many things, but I don't think of myself as human first and foremost tbh, although being human does define how all else is experienced.

If everyone said I am a human, then claim I know my life is owned because a male adult human and a female adult human owned sex...as parents. Then if they do not believe in their gender, to stop confusion they are meant to quote I am either form of human...to live in that status.

Identification purposes for humans today in modern life, we know involves security also....so everyone in truth needs to rethink how to support a safe community, instead of causing problems for self. So if you think you might want to be female but still be male then you should own a M/F identification status. As the claim I can be expressing either, and not be lying.

Ya honestly this is worded poorly so I don't understand half of what you just said.

There's a number of ways to interpret what you just said and I'm pretty sure all of them are transphobic (unless you in a very unfortunate way misspoke).

Trans women are women, trans men are men. Nonbinary people are nonbinary people, ect Forcing people to put they are trans on IDs isn't just wrong it can be dangerous too. In any other case that someone should have a "status" no trans person should be forced to disclose that they are transgender or qualify their womanhood or manhood by the adjective trans except where they wish to disclose or identify with it, which I personally don't do except where it is relevant and I don't identify with the term. I'm simply a woman.

Identity is a part of world security reasoning.

As said, if you cannot choose who you want to be, for some humans keep swapping their ideals about self, then it should quote male or female on the document, so that security can realise that if one day they are being more male like or female like then it is due to human conditions.

For fraud is involved in humans in disguise, all that any government is concerned about. For in society most of us already accepted our family living and expressing their selves. As we live in what is imposed, lawful social conditions, is the only true subject of discussion. For we are all humans, born human, and how you express self is due to existing, and not for any other reason.

Biological sex is real. What is a transexual moving from and towards if biological sex is not real? I think it's sad that so many young people feel they have to take puberty blockers for future sex reassignment surgeries because they happen to be gender non-conforming. Those are serious medications that have long lasting and developing halting effects. There's also the fact that it's used by some homophobic parents to change their sex instead of their sexuality, to conform to the idea of what a woman and man is in their minds.

Can someone show me this "massive hate" that these "TERFs" have been a part of on par with this.

Hi Squeezy. Sex and gender are different. This thread is about gender, not sex.

Uhh it’s always twitter. I swear that brings the worst out of everyone.
But I, for one, condemn anyone who would harass anyone in such a manner.

Surely a medical professional would be able to weigh in on such medical decisions such as puberty blockers? To my knowledge they are easily reversible and cause no lasting damage. Perhaps you could link some scientific studies that say otherwise?
Also what homophobic parent even allows for a sex change in their child? Is this like a thing now? Any sources for such a claim?

That's a small sample to give you an idea of the rhetoric typical of trans exclusive radical feminists.

Whoa! I have encountered transphobic rhetoric before but I didn’t realise it was also occurring in the gay community. :(
(Please forgive my clumsy phrasing, I just lacked better words, I guess?)

Sex is a spectrum, it's not a binary. Not even just talking about intersexed people here. There was a study I saw that talked about situations where someone isn't diagnoised the 'normal' types of intersex but they found that a ton of people (talking double digit percentages) were catagorizable along "male 1", "male 2" "female 2" and "female 1" kind of spectrum based on certain biological make ups. I'm having trouble finding that but the two below show even without that extra layer there is a spectrum of sex:

Sex redefined

Visualizing Sex as a Spectrum

Likewise, gender is a spectrum. Some of those charts address situations where someone intersex people might identify with a gender corresponding, in our culture, with a sex they were or weren't assigned at birth as as well.

There is also nonbinary people... it's not like the only genders are male and female. Some cultures have third genders and some have 4 or 5 too. Whatever the 'experience' is of being not 'female' or 'male', as any culture would understand it, has always existed. You can kind examples of gender diverse people all throughout history.

I think it's sad that so many young people feel they have to take puberty blockers for future sex reassignment surgeries because they happen to be gender non-conforming.

Do you mean transgender? Don't confuse "gender non-conforming" or "gender expansive" with being transgender please. Gender non-conforming/expansive people are not (at least not necessarily) transgender. Many gender nonconforming people are also cis gendered. There aren't cis people being pressured into taking puberty blockers who would do that given how much psychological discomfort that would cause?

Those are serious medications that have long lasting and developing halting effects.

Hell ya I wish I got puberty blockers when I was 13 wishing I was a girl, but no one would do that when I was a kid.

There's also the fact that it's used by some homophobic parents to change their sex instead of their sexuality, to conform to the idea of what a woman and man is in their minds.

Ya that sounds like some TERF propaganda to me.

Well, I mean, r/gendercritical got banned off of reddit for being hateful or abusive, along with thousands of others. There's tons of sites I've seen I won't link but you gotta be living under a rock if you can't see transphobia everywhere.

Trans men are men, full stop. Trans women are women, full stop. Nonbinary people are nonbinary and valid, full stop. Transgender is beautiful, it's resilience, it's being authentic to yourself.

Hormones for hormone replacement therapy needs to be easier to access in other parts of the country too. We need to make it free, actually we need universal healthcare, and strong anti-discrimination policies protecting transgender people and giving them better access to healthcare and other services, particularly trans people of color.

I agree, it's really sad that people in marginalized groups can still succumb to sometimes shocking levels of bigotry.

I am reminded of a comic panel that I wish I could find. It depicts a person saying something like, "you know what, gender is really just based around roles, let's get rid of gender, there are just people." Then a woman lifts her hand (I assume it's meant to be implied she is trans) and says, "but I like some parts about gender; it isn't just about roles." The speaker immediately (and wholesomely) changes their mind.

I guess this is how I feel, too. I'm cis (and gay, not that that matters with this), and as a woman gender more often than not gets used as a weapon against me. I, too, often feel that "people are just people, let's get rid of gender altogether." But that would be ignorant of me, and far too centered in my lived experience. So, tl;dr, some people like gender as a thing, and I agree that they and their experiences are valid.
