Hi,
Does the bible mention that earth is flat? please provide the verse if it was mentioned.
By the way, i hope you won't go on the defense. I know many people mock Christianity for believing that earth is flat but i'm asking this because i'm really considering it might actually be correct.
So, i hope you will answer me based on the bible, not what you personally believe in.
Thank you.
TashaN,
One of the many reasons to believe that The Bible is positively, The Word of God is; there are many things that are recorded in the Bible that no human knew, when the Bible was written.
Consider what the Bible says about the information contained within it, 2Tim 3:16,17, notice all scripture is inspired by God, both Hebrew and Greek Scripture, 2Pet 1:20,21, Notice that God's Holy Spirit mDe sure that all scripture is accurate. At the time that scripture wa written it was completely accurate, and completely understandable to contemporary readers. Over time a few inaccuracies were certain to be introduced into the Bible, because it is impossible for a person to copy the Bible without making a mistake. These mistakes are easy to find with a comparison of Bible translations. Today there are very few mistakes in God's word, and the mistakes do not change God's message to mankind.
The Bible was not written as a Science text book, but when something concerning science is recorded it is always accurate.
As to the flat earth. Although there have been many things written about the earth, such as it is held on the back of a giant, standing on a turtle swimming on an ocean, you NEVER find superstitions or myths found in God's word.
The Bible states that the earth is circular, a globe, and hanging on nothing, Job 26:7,10, Isa 40:22.
The bible uses terms such as, the ends of the earth, and, the four corners of the earth. Think though, we say the same terms today, in writing and speech, and we surely know the earth is not flat, or square, Isa 40:28, Rev 7:1.
