Frank's journal of whatever

Your local loco.
This job keeps getting better. I basically did less than 4 hours of work, since we finished early and we have a 15 minute break. But we still get paid for the whole shift. Since it's a government building, we have federal holidays off and get paid for them. We also have weekends off. This is a schedule I could only dream of working in retail!

My coworkers are cool. They seem nice and welcoming. Funny, too. The work is easy as hell. It's literally just basic housekeeping stuff. I'm not buffing floors or whatever. Don't have to lift anything heavy. It gets me on my feet and moving, so that's a plus. I'm so glad to have this job. I wish I had this job instead of wasting those years at Kroger.
Ayyyyyy glad to hear glad to hear! Keep this positive momentum going! You got the whole rest of your life ahead of you, yesterday is long gone! You’re a youngin yet lol

Before I got on the bus to work, 3 crows had gathered on a utility pole right across the street and one was cawing loudly (well, 2 were on the pole and another was nearby). I take that as a fortunate sign from Odin! (No ravens around here that I've seen, so crows are the next best thing.)

I'm already getting a promotion and a dollar raise. A team leader decided to be an idiot, missing work and coming in late, so he's fired and doesn't realize today is his last day. Lol. He didn't come in so I was assigned to help his team today. Then he ends up coming in late and has an attitude. He was very rude to me, snapping at me. So that made me mad and I complained about that. Well, the manager wanted to talk to me anyway and it was to offer me his job. Of course I accepted. So funny! :D

I will miss my other team because they are great to work with. But the team leader is being promoted, as well, so that was going to end, anyway.

So yesterday was payday and I should be happy and chilling, right? Well, no! First, Goodwill shorted me by 3 hours. Second, they have to be old fashioned and send a paper check first even though it's been 3 weeks since I started working there and I signed up for direct deposit at onboarding. Whatever. Third and most ****ed up, is that my bank won't let me have my paycheck! I did a mobile check deposit for it as soon as I got it. It was approved but they put a hold on most of it. They were going to let me have $225 dollars and hold the rest until next week. But then they took the $225 back and are now holding my entire check!

I just went to the bank and of course they couldn't help me. They just give me a useless 800 number and I know they won't help, either. He just said they could give me "more information". I don't want info, I want my ****ing money!

**** that bank! I want to close my account! It's caused me way more problems than its solved! Now I wasted a day pass going to the bank and my cat and I are both out of food. I only bought food to cover us until Friday.

Why can't I have my own money! The universe seems to want to **** me!

I called the number they gave me and the woman on the phone tried to pass me off and gave the same number to call! Wtf! They're not going to help me, just say it! It's just a ****ing overseas call center, anyway!

That sounds like a bunch of bull****. I hate when stuff like that goes down on the weekend...
I'm irate and my anxiety is through the roof. I really have no food. I only bought food up to Friday because one expects to have access to their pay check on pay day. I swear I am closing that bank account. This is the last straw. They're not going to **** me over and treat me like ****. I will use Cash App, Chime or whatever like everyone else is starting to.

The reason that someone at the bank was unable to help you is that there was not anything they could do. Putting a check on hold occurs because the funds are transferred slowly in contrast to receiving your funds by direct deposit. Why they took back the $250 that they are supposed to give you, I don’t know, and it sounds wrong.

If you close that account, I recommend finding a better bank or even a credit union.

Businesses such as Chime and Cash App are not real banks. They just advertise themselves as providing wonderful advantages so that you would give them your money, and they can do whatever they want with it. As I’ve already shared, the reviews of Chime on ConsumerAffairs are mostly negative. Some customers have lost more than $1000 with Chime. With a bank or credit union, you can speak to a person in person when you need help. Chances are that you will receive help that way rather than from an invisible business’s ‘customer service.’ As a rule, I do business either with an entity that I can see in person or is well-known or has a lot of good reviews (an Etsy seller, for instance).

I'm definitely considering a credit union. I'll need to read more about them but I prefer how they're setup. We have a few in the city that are well-considered, like Kemba.

The whole idea scares me, really. Sometimes face to face is just better.
I made like 5 calls. They keep passing it off to other people and telling me different things, or nothing at all. Finally the bank teller got a manager to help. They have to do paperwork to try and get the hold lifted, and the manager vouched for me. Now I just wait. This hold isn't supposed to be lifted until next week, they told me!
