The reason that someone at the bank was unable to help you is that there was not anything they could do. Putting a check on hold occurs because the funds are transferred slowly in contrast to receiving your funds by direct deposit. Why they took back the $250 that they are supposed to give you, I don’t know, and it sounds wrong.
If you close that account, I recommend finding a better bank or even a credit union.
Businesses such as Chime and Cash App are not real banks. They just advertise themselves as providing wonderful advantages so that you would give them your money, and they can do whatever they want with it. As I’ve already shared, the
reviews of Chime on ConsumerAffairs are mostly negative. Some customers have lost more than $1000 with Chime. With a bank or credit union, you can speak to a person in person when you need help. Chances are that you will receive help that way rather than from an invisible business’s ‘customer service.’ As a rule, I do business either with an entity that I can see in person or is well-known or has a lot of good reviews (an Etsy seller, for instance).
