Gay Cake Row: How have we come to this point?

OK let's look at a couple different situations. A man calls a taxi company. when the taxi arrives he asks to be taken to another city over a hundred miles away. the driver says he can't do that.the man says he is gay and will sue for sexual discrimination. should the taxi driver be forced to take him there. or what if the customer is black and says he will sue for racial discrimination. how much control should government have?
For a proper analogy with this case, the taxi driver would have to agree to take him initially. Then, halfway between the two towns, he'd say "wait - you're gay? I can't have gay people in my cab." At this point, the driver pulls over, hands the man back his money, and leaves him at the side of the road.

Fake cake to rake in cash now?
I believe Whole Foods.
As much as I loathe Whole Pay Check, I do have to side with the concept of "reasonable doubt" given the word "***" is not written in a manner consistent with how "Love Wins" is written, or even in a manner that seems professional, and for those doubters who bring up the same color I've seen many bakers sell the icings they use on or near the counter. And a custom cake? Who isn't going to look at it first to make sure everything is right, or that it's even the right cake?
Reminds me of the times when I've worked fast food and someone eats more than half of a sandwich before taking it back to complain about it.

Not many supporters of the bakery seem to have though of the consequences permitting tradespeople to refuse to handle what they disapprove of. Consider

> a librarian could refuse to buy a book
> a library assistant could refuse to issue a book
> a printer could refuse to print a book or a newspaper article
> your ISP could ban your access to websites they disapprove of
> a bus driver could object to a passenger's "indecent" clothing
> a police officer could refuse to arrest a person for breaking a law they don't like
> a soldier could pick and choose whom to fight

The list of possibilities is endless. If you want to do work with the public or for an employer, you have to take your customers as they come and provide the service they want. If you don't like the idea, get a different job.
