Frivolous suers should pay for the losses they cause.

So... from the article: someone representing himself files a wacky, handwritten lawsuit. The suit hasn't come forward yet, but during the plaintiff's application for a court-appointed lawyer, the judge said he had "concerns" with the claims being made?

Is this supposed to be evidence of some conspiracy against Christians?

Sylvia Driskell — acting on behalf of her plaintiffs God, and His Son, Jesus Christ — listed as the defendants anyone who is a homosexual or goes by the alias of “gay.” While it is clear that Driskell considers homosexuals to be abominations who shouldn’t be allowed to marry, it’s not clear what she expects the Omaha district court to do about it.

The 66-year-old asks “to be heard in the matter of homosexuality, is homosexuality a sin, or is it not?” In her careful cursive script, Driskell cites the favored biblical passages of bigots — Leviticus 18:22 and Romans 1:26 — before complaining that she’s heard “the boasting of the Defendant Homosexuals on the world news; from the Young to the Old; to the rich an [sic] famous, and to the not so rich an [sic] famous. How they were tired of hiding in the closet and how glad they were to be coming out of the closet.”

Though really... a publishing house does have some options over what they publish. They aren't just reprinting a manuscript, they had to make a call at some point over whether to, say, print a translation that renders αρσενοκοίτης as "homosexual", and then whether or not to put in a footnote explaining the controversy over that term. They know their market is mostly conservative, so they make decisions that favor conservative politics. I don't think there's any point in suing them, but I do think they are guilty of a sin. They made decisions that lead to harming children, decisions nothing but their dogmas or their pocketbooks forced them to make.

And if it's a jury trial, there's an even greater chance of winning.
Judges often don't care about evidence when letting a suit proceed to trial...just the existence of a dispute over claimed facts.

Yup. I wouldn't expect tort reform, at least, not the actual good kind of tort reform, to happen anytime sooner, what with all those politicians being lawyers of various suits. No reason to make litigation cheaper. Add civil forfeiture and immunity from law, and you have yourself a good old fashioned police force.

Not surprising. Frivolous lawsuits have been around for quite some time. We need to do something about them in general.

I don't know the specifics, but there was a woman some time ago who was feared by everyone in her neighborhood because she'd file lawsuits against people for the most idiotic things. They were always thrown out of court, but it caused her neighbors grief nevertheless.
