Kuzcotopia

If you can read this, you are as lucky as I am.
I voted for two:

Horror and Mystery. . . Two sides of the same narrative coin.

Horror is about a disturbance in the social order, and Mystery is about fixing it. Both are dull to me.

Give me science fiction and fantasy.

That's cool. . . I did go through an Agatha Christie phase a long time ago, but I feel like the genre cheats, by deliberately failing to give the reader info they could use to figure it out for themselves, then revealing it at the end of the book.

Do you know about the movie coming out soon?

I like historicals, but loathe Westerns. Country is also about the only music genre that I never listen to.
Other than that, I tend to like pieces here-and-there from most genres, but I voted action because I rarely like them.

Rigged poll!
I can get into all of'm.

But if you had an option for <weepie woman's movie>, I'd have picked it.

Not surprisingly, I love all genres and as long as they are well acted and have a good storyline, I'm smitten.

So, the lowest on my scale is probably Romance, though I have seen a few that were quite wonderful. Not the usual offering around Chez Ymir however.

Like several have said, I hated Westerns for many years and still cannot watch anything pre-1990 or so.
Eastwood's "Unforgiven" is amazing however, though not your garden variety "oater".
3:10 to Yuma is also quite wonderful.

It sad because vampire movies can be really, really good if done well. Those black and white ones! And the Dead and Loving It comedy was brilliant imo.
But not vampire movies with angst ridden, raging hormone, teenage lovers.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
The arts provide us with many fine tales for inspiration and entertainment, some of which appeal to us more than others. We tend to have some sort of genre preference, and try from time to time to get into others outside of our norm. Are there particular genres that you just can't get into? Why do you think that is?

(yes, I realize the poll options are limited - there are too many genres to fit them all in; if something isn't in the poll, please post and tell us about it!)
Yes Romance. Yuck get a room.

I like some romance movies. I guess I'm the weird one here.

... just not "The Notebook"
