The total lack of evidence for such a postulate would be one good reason.

I understand, but isn't it unbecoming of a freethinker to run away from using his imagination? That's what always gets me about so-called freethinkers: their closemindedness and lack/fear of imagination.
You can suppose that the universe is made of cheese, but unless you can back it up, it isn't worth anything.I understand, but isn't it unbecoming of a freethinker to run away from using his imagination? Unfortunately imagination needs some form of confirmation from reality, without that it remains imagination.
Freethinkers do not lack or fear imagination, they just object when people assert, without evidence, that imaginary things are real.
Okay, so the only problem freethinkers have with imagination is that deals with the imaginary and not the actual. Gotcha.
Yes, and ... ?

Love, Hope and Truth are IMO equally important and not independent of one another. In fact, these three are bound up in the substance of each other.
In the scientific realm we look for scientific evidence. That depends on what you consider evidence...

Apparently, lots of maths and experiments. What can you back up the alternative with then?
But the universe would still be here if there was nobody to love and nothing to hope for.Love, Hope and Truth are IMO equally important and not independent of one another. In fact, these three are bound up in the substance of each other.
