God... He or She?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I see some say he and some say she.

Are those choices made by personal beliefs or is it not only people can't agree on if a god exists, which god exists but also if the god is a he or she?
That's because God is human made. It's as varied as people's faces and characteristics.

"It" would be referring to a god as not knowing. He or she refers to knowing. Therefore "it" isn't part of the question. Of course that's my opinion.

First off, who knows? He or she is just personal belief and nothing to do with said gods gender.

And of course, said god may not be either and so it is a possibility

As i said, who know, yes it's personal belief so it is a possibility

The question is why do some refer to god as he or she.

It, them, myth, imaginary, etc are certainly possibilities but that's not the question.

God does not have a gender.
That reminded me of this poem by Hafiz as rendered by Ladinsky

How Does It Feel To Be A Man

Once a young woman asked me,
“How does it feel to be a man?”
And I replied,
“My dear,
I am not so sure.”

Then she said,
“Well, aren’t you a man?”

And this time I replied,
“I view gender
As a beautiful animal
That people often take for a walk on a leash
And might try to enter in some odd contest
To try to win prizes.

“My dear,
A better question for Hafiz
Would have been,

“How does it feel to be a heart?”

For all I know is Love,
And I find my heart Infinite
And Everywhere!

Being love comes from the brain and not the heart... Wouldn't "how does it feel to be a brain" be a better question.

In spiritual systems the "heart" does not refer to the physical organ that pumps blood. When someone says we need to "get to the heart of the matter" that is much closer to how spiritual systems use the word "heart"

Didn't leave them out. Them or it would be referring to a god as not known. He or she refers to knowing. Therefore they are not part of the question.

I do use "it" for any unknown god, i.e. when referring to "god".
I do use their gender assigned by the author of a god story where they are named.
Zeus, Odin and YHVH are named god characters who are described as male in their stories. I refer to them as "he".
Hella, Aphrodite and Epona are named goddesses who I refer to as "she".

The generic god has no gender, it doesn't even have personality, so even "they" would assigning a quality it doesn't necessarily have.

First person was Adam. He. So, He contains She.
Eve didn’t even have a single Y chromosome in any of her ribs.

Had the Holy Bible said that Eve came first, the Holy Bible would have ended up looking pretty foolish in the light of modern science.

The Holy Bible was nearly falsified by science. That was a close call.
