I would suspect so. You don't see the spotted horses killing off the brown ones or opressing them.Would they be tolerant horse-gods?
I guess it depends on how you look at it. In this particular case, I'd have to disagree.doppelgänger;910352 said:But for many (including the OP it sounds like to me), "intolerance" = "love".
I have found that everytime someone follows "GOD is.." with an appelation or attribute, they have made an error that someone somewhere will immediately disagree with . . . Better to say GOD is whatever you want Him to be...

But if God is intolerant, wouldn't God be dour? Would God tolerate our little jokes? Or is God's sense of humor sick, like mine?:sarcasticYou must remember god has a sense of humour
FatMan said:Why does God have to be tolerant? It is humans who set the ideals and goals of what they think god should be.
Why does anybody have to be anything? Why does someone have to not rape little girls? It is what you value that means everything.
As is any image we can possibly have of God. That's about the only way humans can process anything spiritual. It all comes back to being an ideal man created.

Can we agree that Love is superior to Hate? The benefit of a tolerant God is that He realizes humans are born into a hectic world with an infinite number of different paths. It is foolishness to punish someone forever merely because they made a "bad" decision. Many of the God of Christendom's commandments are as absurd as saying it is immoral to drink Orange Juice. Why hate someone for drinking orange juice? "Tolerance" is a subjective term. However, I believe the basic definition is not abusing others who are operating within the brackets morality; respecting others freedoms. Violation of another's will is the basis of wrong or you could say that harm in the basis of wrong. Think of God as the Government of the Universe. As long as no one is getting hurt who doesn't wish to be hurt, it is not God's right to tell us what to do.FatMan said:What are the benefits of a tolerant God, and who defines "tolerant"?
Superior in what? Can we agree that Love is superior to Hate?
Since I view gods as imaginary, I tend to think that a person's ideas about the divine tell us more about that person than about anything else.
