God's Children

To me it means that Jesus is not the "only" son of God.

So yeah, we are all God´s children in my book :)

So if we are all God's children, what would that entail?
Do you think there are any benifits God has reserved for his children?
If so what would those benifits be?
Ultamately, if we are God's children what does that say about our potential?
When we die are we going to just be doomed to sing praises to God for all eternity, or does God's children have a higher potential than that? Does the child have the ability to grow up to be like it's father?

I love the scriptural evidence of these New Testament Scripture Passages that we are Literal Sons and Daughters of God and have the potential to become God's ourselves.

1 John 3: 2-3
"1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure."

Phillipians 2:5-6; 3:14
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

2 Corr. 12:1-7
1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.
6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

and Rev. 21:7; 3:21
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

OTOH, he does refer to human beings as "pots" that the "potmaker" can appoint to any purpose - or perhaps just smash - as he sees fit with the pot having no right to complain.

If this describes a parent-child relationship, I would say that it's probably an abusive one.
Before we were appointed to any purpose, we were one with god, or the child was one with his father, which means father and child were in oneness before appointing to any purpose. And the relation of child and father came into existance after when we were appointed by God, or(Ourself in oneness with God) to any purpose.

In short it means that we ourself appointed ourself for this purpose in the beganing and forgot.:)

being God's children? That'd be weird. I guess it'd be like having a father who ran away from home and has ditched his responsibilities as we can't have direct contact.
No, Its like a child who ran away from home in a wish of getting some better than home. :)

Others of us would love to see evidence that these scriptures are anything other than ancient poetry, conjecture and wishful thinking. (In other words, that they themselves are "evidence" of anything at all.)

All throughout the Bible we are repeatedly reminded that we are children of our Heavenly Father, why is it that so many denominations who read the Bible read that and do not believe it?
God has never referred to us as his pets, nor his mere creations, nor will He ever, Jesus taught us that we are all God's children. What does that mean to you?

The Bible does not say we are all God's children, it says we are all God's creation

We become God's child by repenting of our sins and receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord.

John 1:12 As many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God

A very important point.

Acts 17:28 refers to us as "His offspring." One's offspring are one's children. God is the Father of the spirits of each and every one of us.
