If we were made in HIS image...
With the majority of the world believing in the GOD of the Old Testament...and with the varying beliefs to reincarnation, afterlife, etc...
I wonder if any believe this may also be the same for GOD...
Especially considering, if GOD is self existing, and would have therefore had to create HIMSELF.
Well in my belief the God of the Old Testament is the same God as the New Testament and the Qur'an and in the Baha'i Writings..So God manifests Himself in Messengers and Prophets that appear from age to age as humanity has need..but this is not reincarnation and in my religion God does not "incarnate" Himself in a body.
God doesn't "create Himself" or "die" or get "reborn". God is Self Subsistent but even as I wrote this it's important to bear some things in mind:
For example, if we form a conception of divinity as a living, almighty, self-subsisting, eternal being, this is only a concept apprehended by a human intellectual reality. It would not be the outward, visible reality which is beyond the power of human mind to conceive or encompass.
~ Abdu'l-Baha, Baha'i World Faith, p. 259
We as human beings are limited in our capacity to understand the Ineffable the Unkowable Essence:
All the people have formed a god in the world of thought, and that form of their own imagination they worship; ....Therefore consider: All the sects and peoples worship their own thought; they create a god in their own minds and acknowledge him to be the creator of all things, when that form is a superstition -- thus people adore and worship imagination.
That Essence of the Divine Entity and the Unseen of the unseen is holy above imagination and is beyond thought. Consciousness doth not reach It. Within the capacity of comprehension of a produced reality that Ancient Reality cannot be contained. It is a different world; from it there is no information; arrival thereat is impossible; attainment thereto is prohibited and inaccessible. This much is known: It exists and Its existence is certain and proven -- but the condition is unknown.
~ Abdu'l-Baha, Baha'i World Faith, p. 381
