How Interesting!
Threads often appear on RF calling for freedom of speech and expression, as in recent debates over French journalism, the French President arguing that printing naked cartoon pictures of religious prophets is 'reasonable' even if it upsets 8 million citizens, the next thing we hear about is that France is attempting to ban freedom to photograph its police officers. The reverse of the coin, eh?
France does some weird things, although I've observed similar attitudes in the U.S.
Freedom of Speech and Expression should not allow provocative, inciting, harmful, vindictive deceitful muck, and if our governments can control this more closely then ........ great!
I see it as an age-old problem, just like how governments wanted to ban certain books/authors because they thought it corrupted youth. It was similar when people complained about sex and violence in movies and TV, along with Tipper Gore's obsession with rock lyrics.
