I've seen political BS from both sides

The last time we had a presidential election where the person elected was best suited for the job was was back in the Obama days.

Since then its been ran on 'Vote for me because I'm better. 'Vote for me or else.
Yeah, the Republicans picked Trump over Haley so the democrats stopped looking and took the person who had already proven to be able to beat him.

As to why there has been no legislation, remember back quite a while ago now, Republicans and Democrats had worked on a bill that was a bipartisan bill to deal with immigration, asylum and border issues which had sufficient backing to pass both houses and get a presidential signature.

Donald Trump, not even in elected government, threatened house members with political backlash if they passed it because he would rather do nothing so he could rant about the problem rather than improve even a marginal start. It wasn't about what was good for the country, but what would be good for him in an election year.

Biden announced his election run in April 2023, just 2 months after Haley announced she would run

Its election year. The border should have been addressed before election year.

Both want it to run on.

And it was being addressed on a bipartisan basis until one person decided he needed it for an election.

Yes our government is terribly slow to actually getting something done unless it is like the Iraq war or the Heimat's Sicherheit Gruppe, (Homeland Security)

They should have struck a deal on the border over two/three years ago. The dems didn't care about it two/three years ago. They only care now because its election year. Use it to run on.

The repubs knew that. Rejected them because they themselves want it to run on.

Its all BS.

2-3 years ago, where have you been since 2001
Republicans and isolationists are still fighting it, latest logic the great replacement theory.
The dream act is only a beginning to actually addressing the problem.

Give been in the current BS. Its what matters.

If you want to go back just go back to Trump who tried to build a wall.
And the Mexicans wouldn't pay for it, besides it being a stupid idea.
Here is an example of immigrants at an official border crossing waiting to claim asylum.
At which point they are legally allowed due process which due to inadequacies in funding and staffing for the relevant courts can take years to complete.

Here is a video on how well the wall works where it was built including a section where 25 people in a Ford Excursion drove right through a gap and weren't noticed till they crashed on a highway. how many others got through, who knows. There is also a segment about a repair crew saying they had a full time job and had repaired 35 breeches in two weeks.
Didn't work in China, didn't work in Germany, and worst of all does not address the actual problem.

Of course people will find away around it be it cutting, tunneling, etc. It isn't a perfect idea, they don't exist.

Take the locks on your home doors. If people want in they will get in. So why even have locks on your doors? Or cars?

The wall, just like your house locks, car locks, business locks, the fence around the white house, etc are all deterrents.
However anyone really wanting in will get in.

Good question, I can't really help you, I don't even know where the keys to my door locks are. Car keys are in the ignition and I only take them out when I go shopping or something. Oh, I do lock the car if I leave it at an airport or other long term parking.
This seems to work just fine since most everybody around here has adequate means of support.
On the other hand, the people arriving at our borders are unable to support themselves or in fear for their lives and the only way that they can get a hearing is to be in the United States to make the application.
My feeling though is it would go a lot farther to reduce the need for people to migrate than to put up Trompe l'œil barriers that are more to fool us than actually solve the problem.
Besides with our birth rate we need young immigrants with the willingness to work hard (they got themselves thousands of miles without significant support)

200$ on Amazon and 8$ a piece for extra blades should get you through the wall in a half hour or so,

Research at Texas A&M University and Texas Tech University indicates that the wall, like border walls in general, is unlikely to be effective at reducing illegal immigration or movement of contraband.[108]

Of the 2000 people per day, If only one per day that has ill intentions toward the US gets across the border, that's 365 per year.
What was it? 18-19 that did 9/11.

no, they came here through the much simpler process of visitor entry legally which only goes to show that for lack of any repeats, this fear is overblown and not where the problem even is.
Do we stop having tourists and foreign students or do we develop a speedy process for vetting potential immigrants who have that right under our laws. Last number I saw of people who are in the country illegally, 65% of them entered on a tourist visa via regular border points,

What a difference a day makes.

49 Republican senators have signed onto a statement declaring support for access to in vitro fertilization.

"Senate Democrats have embraced a Summer of Scare Tactics—a partisan campaign of false fearmongering intended to mislead and confuse the American people. In vitro fertilization is legal and available in every state across our nation. We strongly support continued nationwide access to IVF, which has allowed millions of aspiring parents to start and grow their families,"

And then ....

Senate GOP blocks bill to guarantee access to IVF nationwide

"Senate Republicans voted Thursday to block a bill put forward by Democrats that would guarantee access to in vitro fertilization nationwide."

Another case of don't listen to what they say, look at what they do.
49 signed a statement on the 12th. 60 votes were needed on the 13th. The fact it didn’t pass isn’t evidence that those 49 flip-flopped.
