Green Lantern- The critics are dead wrong

I would agree except that IMO, Christian Bale is such an unlikely and unlikable Batman that the movie might as well have sucked.
Well, nobody liked the Dark Knight because of the Dark Knight. :)

It's kind of the opposite of Iron Man, really. Iron Man pretty much had the best possible casting for who would play Iron Man, and Downey pretty much carried the film. With Dark Knight, the film carried the film, and specifically the villain.

There's no excuse.

Yeah, and either I've gotten used to him or he's not doing that bad a job. Not sure which.
Yeah Jackman seems pretty good to me, but it's not like I'm really critical of that character portrayal. It could've been far, far worse... Toby McGuire though, I don't know, I think He's o.k. for that role...like I said, though, a fan of the character might think differently. Luckily these characters are in the realm of fantasy, so there is a little leeway.
And of course Wolverine has to live up to whole different standard.:)

Exactly. I loved RDjr as Tony stark, but man, he deserved much better writers for the second IM movie.

Agree, could have been Toby McGuire. :p

As a fan of Spiderman, yeah.

Luckily these characters are in the realm of fantasy,

What!???

It's great. Just got back from seeing it at a drive-in theater (my first time in one, and let me tell you; it's a FAR better experience than an indoor theater), and I felt that it was a great movie. Sure, it's not on the same level as Dark Knight, but as far as superhero movies go, this was pretty darned good. It was well-paced, for the most part, the acting was good, and the characters were fun. Sure, it didn't go into the meaning of life, but since Green Lantern isn't a hero that's prevalent in mainstream consciousness, I think it would have been inappropriate to go into such things.

Therefore, this movie does what it needs to do: be somewhat mindless escapism.

The critics are wrong in this case.
I have not seen it yet, but then, I pay very little to what the "critics" say.
Far to many times has my opinion been the polar opposite of theirs.

As much as I like both Ryan Reynolds and superhero movies, I'm going to wait until I can watch it on Netflix.

I kind of want to see X-Men First Class too, but I'll wait for that one as well. And Thor. Hollywood might be a little overextended in superheroes at the moment.
I liked X-Men First class.
But then, I do not bother with the comic books, and have been told that that is why I liked the movie.

I think Dark Knight kind of ruined the superhero genre for me by just being way too good and setting the bar so high.

I have to agree.
Christian Bale's batman was a bit of a fake, a poser if you will.
I find it upsetting that Heath Ledgers most excellent portrayal of the Joker was wasted on Christian Bale's poor portrayal of Batman.

Well I've gotten hyper-critical anyway, my least favorite flicks have been the Batmans... all of 'em. Just wasn't impressed with the characters, storylines. I even liked the Hulk better than those. I know.

Still waiting for a decent Hulk flick.
As am I.

And Toby McQuire is going to hell for ruining Spiderman for me.
Well, I didn't think he did THAT bad a job...

Did a face palm initially when I first saw who they got to play Wolverine, but at this point I've come to terms with it. :p
I thought so at first as well.
But I was pleasantly surprised when Jackman turned out to be a really good Wolverine.

Thor was a pleasant surprise all in all.
Have not seen this one yet.

I like Iron Man.
Both of them.

But again, I do not care much for comic books.

With Dark Knight, the film carried the film, and specifically the villain.
Keith Ledger's Joker carried that film.
I was disappointed that the Joker loss.
Of course, with as terrible a job as what Christian Bale's Batman did....

Amen.

I think the problem with the Hulk is that the movie makers keep trying to please both the comic book and TV series fans. Probably wind up disappointing both. 2 different Hulks.

Well, I didn't think he did THAT bad a job...

He did the best he could. IMO he was just the wrong guy.

I thought so at first as well.

I didn't like the Wolverine origins movie, but I'm OK with Jackman as Logan at this point.

Have not seen this one yet.

It's not bad at all. I really couldn't see Branagh directing a superhero movie, but he did a really good job.
