Especially those who walk away with two eyes and all ten fingers. At least children can enjoy the excitement and beauty of a well managed fireworks display without wondering why a country would choose an anthem that glorifies "the rockets red glare ... the bombs bursting in air."
And I dare say that none of them are aware
  • that the rockets were British, the bombs ineffective, and
  • the third stanza of the anthem, racist.
I wasn’t under the impression that Francis Scott Key wrote about the British rockets or bombs bursting in the air to glorify them, but rather to express awe and gratitude for surviving through the battle. I’m not familiar with the third stanza, so can’t comment on that.

For all of America's shortcomings... Though America has not always lived up to the dream that we have of her, and not everyone was free at one time... I am nevertheless grateful that my immigrant ancestors safely made it here. This song moves me as much (if not more) than any national anthem.

I got my new flag in time for the 4th. It looks great on the flagpole.

America is a truly great country.

I would like to wish all American members a happy Independence Day. I hope you and yours have a blissful day, and I hope your country reaches a more peaceful, prosperous, and harmonious status quo in the near future.

Enjoy the day!

I am not American, but I received my high school diploma on a 4th of July. So it was a kind of independence day for me, too.
