I think the better question was have people changed since joining RF HAHA. I think everything new good or bad is growth if you apply it in a possitive way. Like ive said I think failure is just a way to learn. I can personaly and proudly say ive changed since joining RF, I think everyone is very "all in" wich makes for great convo!

One of the big things is all that I have learned about evolution on RF. I went from really not having any clue about it and fully rejecting it to having a good understanding and acceptance of it.
But learning about other religions and cultures has had an affect as well. I also learned alot about the Left Handed Path and the religions that fall under it.

I came here considering conversion. Things I've learned here (the Judaism DIR, general posts throughout the board, talking with various members here) have helped me with making my decision.

I was already moving in the direction, the board just help clear the path a little.

On that note, I have changed from considering Buddhism agnostic to considering the whole distinction between atheism, theism and agnosticism greatly over-rated and somewhat misguided. Belief in God is in fact a very minor detail of any religion or faith system, regardless of its presence or absence.

I dont understand how God is a minor detail in religion. Can you elaborate?

I think he means that not every religion has a deity.

Actually, it goes a bit beyond that, Christine.

For all the hype, God turns out to be simply not a particularly important concept even in the religions that make a point of centering on him.

For one thing, the understanding of what God is varies so much from person to person, even among those of same faith, that it is ultimately of little consequence. Religions would change little if they centered on a more abstract concept such as "sacred" or "transcendence" instead (as many already do). Ultimately, the general tendency is for those who value the concept of God the most to lose their way more seriously.

Sometimes I wonder if God of each religion is just another facet of one and the same God. People are multidimensional, so I figure God would be, too.

Christine I'm pretty sure that is the case, but people believe they should worship different ways.
Luis, I kinda get what you are saying from past experiences. God is the focal point of my beliefs and those who attend the same church as me every time the doors open.

I have posted on many religious forums over the years, Christian fundamentalists only serve to confirm my unbelief in their particular Christian dogma.

I have become more convinced that sites like this are platfroms to mock Christianity at any opportunity. I mean this post is a prime example of turning what would be an excellent platform of discussion into a chance to deride Christianity. And its followed by others along the same vein. It's "change the broken record" stuff.


Like wow, I've become even more of a Christian because of all the agnostics and athiests I find in internet forums ------Wow what an astounding level of intellect that is, are you glad I shared that will you all??

Luis has made a brilliant point. Luis is not bad mouthing the God part as some might think, but rather he is explaining that individuals bring such abstract and personal feelings and views to their own religious experience, that God really just becomes a tool to justify and explain their own personal feelings about existence.

If more people were honest or maybe spent more time reflecting, they might realize their religious beliefs are more about themselves then God.

All in all, Satanism is do what you want and satisfy all your desires. It is kind of the opposite of Christianity, in that in Christianity you are to repress many feelings and urges. Make sense?
