Have you ever been a regular smoker of tobacco?

I haven't. I also can't handle being near cigarette smoke or the smell of it, so I suppose that has made it even easier not to want to smoke.

The poll is anonymous.

I'm a smoker, but I only have occasional bouts of irregularity.

I had a terribly difficult time quitting 45 years ago.
I had a very hard time quitting as well. One day I woke up with "I WANT TO LIVE" ringing in my brain and finally quit for good on that day.

I used to smoke, from age 16 till about my mid 20s, though I have still used nicotine on and off over the years since.
Tobacco will keep you "regular" for sure.
It's strictly (from a clinical perspective) the nicotine that helps. This is partly why I vape is because the nicotine helps tons with my IBS (especially the constipation).

For a period of a few months, when I was 17-18 years old...never got hooked...although once in a very great while I get the urge for a smoke after a good meal...

I quit mainly because it was making me tired, whereas I found out later that I have an allergy to nicotine. After quitting for several months, I had one cigarette and it put me in the e.r. with heart palpitations.

No, but I occasionally use cigars and pipes. Like, maybe 5 or 6 times a year?

There's something about a cigar and Scotch...

My brother in law told me one night, while sitting on his porch with a cigar and a glass of whiskey, that this was what real southern men did. So I grabbed a cigar, poured myself a glass of whiskey, came back out and asked him if I was a southern man now. He said I was, and we sat in contented silence with our booze and cigars.

I never knew changing genders was going to be so easy!

Never smoked, the smell of cigarette smoke makes me nauseous.

Same, to the point where I have difficulty hanging out with anyone who insists on sitting in smoking areas at restaurants, coffee shops, etc. When that happens, I often feel regrettably discouraged from hanging out with them.

We're fortunate(in my opinion) that there's no smoking allowed in indoor public areas here. Don't have a struggle with that.

They're trying to remove public smoking period, indoors or outdoors, but I don't know if they'll be successful. It seems to be going a bit overboard to ban it outdoors; perhaps restrict it to certain areas, and ticket pollution(throwing of the butts on the ground), but to go any further seems to simply be punishing smokers.
