I haven't. I also can't handle being near cigarette smoke or the smell of it, so I suppose that has made it even easier not to want to smoke.

The poll is anonymous.
I used to smoke from a very young age to the end of age 24.

Its changed considerably in the UK. As a student i was the unsociable one for disliking cigarette smoke and leaving the room when anyone lit up. Now the smokers have to leave the room and be unsociable while having a ciggy. To some small extent smoking is ostracised.

I believe france was about the same, if you wanted a drink in a pubic bar
you also had to accept second hand smoke. Smoking in indoor public places was banned although designated smoking areas can be set up, kind of defeats the object, lucky it doesn't happen often and smokers usually have to go outside. It's pleasantly warm here much of the time, restaurants have outdoor (often in roadways) tables. Smoking is allowed in outdoor areas, to me its horrible to be enjoying a meal and someone on the next take starts making smoke signals

I stupidly smoked for 39 years (with 2 brief interruptions trying and failing to quit). Fortunately for me, my partner decided he wanted to quit, so I went along, and this time it worked. That was almost 19 years ago.

I wish I had never been stupid enough to start, but I guarantee I'll never be stupid enough to take it up again.

I also think it should be heavily limited outdoors when near others. People shouldn't be allowed to blow carcinogenic smoke in others' faces at, say, a bus stop or a park just because it's an outdoor setting.

I think intentionally blowing smoke on people(or even carelessly doing so) is inexcusable. Most smokers I know take care not to do this(other than in a bar setting, where they're probably tipsy and not paying attention).

Some buildings offer outdoor smoke areas, with an ash tray and a seating area. This seems to be a fairly wise choice.

Militaries and human nature under severe distress, I'd say.

I should message you to compare our experiences in the military sometime. I'd be quite interested to see how much of our experiences was shared.

Feel free to message whenever curiosity gets the better of you :p

I think it’s hilarious that people have a beef with smoking when we just can’t compete with even motor cars,”stop smoking” isn’t going to save the world even if smokers did, ridiculous argument really.

I was a light smoker, usually a half a pack a less for twenty years. Haven't smoked for fifteen.

I have an older brother that still smokes and a younger one that never did. I am the happy medium.

Personally, I don't care as long as I don't have to inhale the smoke. My main issue with it isn't environmental; it's the fact that it can harm me or other non-smokers even if we go out of our way to avoid it (at least where I live). Without that issue, it's just another personal habit that I'm indifferent to as long as it's away from my life.

At my peak, I was three packs/day. I can't find a picture of me in my 20s without a cigarette in my hand or my mouth.

I have been smoke free for about 5 years.

I was a constant pipe smoker till I was thirty, then gave up in a single day.
I kept my pipe and a full pouch of tobacco till the rubber lining perished.
However I still craved to smoke for nearly thirty years more, before my addiction faded.

Today no one that I know smokes. It is quite rare to see smokers around here.
My son has become a vaper. But he lives a couple of hundred miles away.
