Actually, there are more research done in the U.S and its very clear that most have never met a Muslim in their lives. If I find that research I will share with you.

I believe you, but this is more reflective of those folks that use this forum, rather than the whole of the US.

Certain parts of the United States have more Muslims but we don't have many where I live in the Pacific Northwest, al least I have not met any, but I don't get out much.
Hahaha! They must be all up in my neighborhood! There are also a bunch around Tacoma.

I think many of us would have met more than we know of. It's not like we all wear a t-shirt that identifies our faith. I knew some people for 30 years that never did know I was Hindu. So those guys probably would answer they had never met one. Of course there are a few folks who you'd know their faith in a few minutes of conversation.

Hey TB. Thats an interesting stat. Thanks so much.
It is also true that I never met but one Muslim on any religious forums before I came to this forum. On Delphi Forums where I also post, it is almost exclusively Christians and some Jews, and agnostics and atheists. There used to be a Baha'i Forum, but not anymore, and I am the only Baha'i posting on those forums.

I don't know how to make a poll, but I'd be curious about people who have entered a church, a cathedral, a synagogue, a pagan shrine, a Hindu temple, a gurudwara, a synagogue, etc.

I only learned two days ago that Orthodox Christianity have cathedrals. I thought it was purely a Catholic thing.

Well, prior to meeting Adrian and Tony on this forum, I have never met a Bahai. Then I went seeking a Bahai and finally met a guy I still keep in touch live. I think year ago maybe.

Yet at least we should be grateful to the internet. We feel as if we have met all kinds of people in our minds due to that. And that is good, in my opinion.

Have you heard of the Hawthorne effect?

What's that?

Never met a Sikh, Jain, or Baha'i in person, but I have met all of the others.

I've also known people of various African diasporic traditions in person, as well as Spiritists and "energy workers."

Because I have too much time to think, I've been pondering lately how you meet people with various beliefs here on the forums, but may not have ever met anyone with those beliefs personally. How about you? Have you met people from the following religions(in person, not online)?

For the sake of this poll, I'm going to assume most of us that are on the forums live in places in which we've likely met a Christian or an Atheist. If you have not, please state that.

As for the religions listed, if you know what sect they belong to, feel free to add that. Or, if you've met a person from a notable faith that I haven't listed, please add that as well.
I've marked the list but I don't know what religion some other folks I interact with may profess.. Owner of the gas station, who for some reason thinks I'm a retired professor(??) always gives his,'Be Happy' when the small talk ends.He has an Indian accent but I have no clue of his religion as I am an idiot.

You're not an idiot. Some people don't share these things. :)

What's that?

It's a research problem. Best you do a quick reading of it.

This is when research is done people either are under observation, or feel under observation and their responses to research questions are reactionary, not really truthful. This is true in qualitative studies, but more true in quantitative studies.

I see.

I see where you're coming from, but I don't think the RF population is a good representation of the US population. Heck, many of us here are not even from the US!

What about all the luciferians, occultists, satanists, and I've forgotten the names of all the other diabolically associated groups out there?
These weren't what you meant by 'left-hand path', were they? If so, I would go much further than left-field to describe them, as in extreme radical, or hyper negative, sinister, and so on....

Outside of the ones that actually freaked-me-out, almost most of the faiths on this forum are new to me as far as either, not hearing of them before, or not meeting in person an adherent of such a faith. Most of the Christian denominations or permutations I am familiar with , but there are a couple that I have not hear of.

Thus, I must say that this is a very contentious forum, as, as expected, there isn't much agreement across faiths. There are fundamental differences that lay between, the theists and the atheists, or the spiritualists and the secularists, the humanists and the fatalists or nihilists, etc...

We do have members that adhere to the left hand path, and while your feelings are your own and I'm not going to tell you to change them, I'd appreciate if you'd not speak about them in a manner that they may find hurtful or offensive in open forum. Thanks in advance.

How has the experience of meeting people from other paths been for you?

As a luciferian...
Is there any point in trying to explain that you don't understand left handed paths and should actually listen to folk who are of that path before making a remark about them?

You're right, sorry about the opinionated remark about certain religious groups.

As far as the other paths are concerned, well, again, contentious. We are diametrically opposed in many ways, to the point where I often feel that we're speaking two different languages - major comprehension issues.
But, of course, as expected. It's not my first time in debates with people, and even amongst fellow Christians communication and harmony can be rather challenging.

Well, I'm a Christian, so I do know a thing or two about Lucifer, Satan, demons and devils. And, I have heard luciferians and satanists attempt to define their religions as peaceful, harmonious, non-judgmental and so on. What can I say to something like that, when someone speaks kind words about the prince of darkness, or who calls the king of deceit trustworthy?

It leaves me speechless and indignant.
