Simple question. A ufo that was 'different' enough to be labeled such, and clearly seen, not a glimpse.

Thanks!

I saw a UFO at a Scout camp site many years ago.

Then we identified it (a foil flag on a tree reflecting a near-by spotlight).

This is the boring truth of countless UFO sightings.

A lot of UFO sightings are misidentified, but not all

UFO doesn't mean "alien space craft". It's simply something that is unidentified and in the sky. By that definition, anyone who has ever looked up into the sky has probably seen a UFO - but so what?

I have seen several. But I am forced to uphold the "U" part and acknowledge there are several things I have seen that I have been unable to identify.

Not really. All UFOs are unidentified by definition. Most are subsequently identified (at least with reasonable doubt) and thus stop being UFOs. A few remain unidentified (or disputed). Quite a lot are "misidentified" on the basis of presumption and confirmation bias as to being alien spacecraft or something similar but given that precisely zero of the countless identified (ex)UFOs have been alien spacecraft, such a presumption remains indefensible.

I blame H.G.Wells. :)

Think the stats that I've read is that 95% of all ufo reports is misidentification, 5% is never identified.

If any ufo was identified as alien, it would be front page news. Unfortunately it's not taken seriously by mainstream news/science so it will never make it onto the front page

HG Wells didn't create UFOs, it was reported long before Wells came around.

The lack of front page UFO news comes from the scant amount of credible evidence; not bias.

They're only "misidentified" when they're assumed to be spacecraft piloted by sentient alien beings yet there is zero rational reasoning to jump to that assumption. UFOs are unidentified until (unless) they're subsequently identified for what they actually are.

Any discovery of alien life, let alone sentient alien life would be more than front page news. The only reason it isn't is because there has been no such discovery presented. UFOs generally aren't front page news (in any serious media) because they're not actually that special and certainly don't prove anything alone (other than maybe the power of human imagination and the weaknesses of human eyes).

HG Wells didn't create UFOs, it was reported long before Wells came around.
That was largely a joke but the point is that Wells was at the forefront of the creative fiction that played such a role in forming the imagery now reflected in our perceptions of sentient aliens and spacecraft. Once upon a time, the same events would be attributed to gods or demons and if nobody had ever written stories about aliens and spaceships, maybe they still would.

I've seen objects in the sky that I couldn't identify, so basically they would fit the criteria of "unidentified flying object." But do I think they were aliens or spaceships? No. I know enough to reasonable believe that the things I saw would have a natural explanation.

The strangest sight I had, I managed to identify within 30 minutes. It was some very strange light that were hovering in the sky, quite far away, over the mountains. Suddenly it disappeared. Then within a few seconds another showed up, a bit higher up, and a third. Then I noticed something that gave away what they were... not telling. Don't want to spoil the suspense. :D

No, I have never seen one.

That said, I do believe in such things including contacts with humans from the quantity and quality of evidence.

I think these things blur the line between what has traditionally been called 'real' and 'not real'. I now think we live in a universe with multi-dimensions and sometimes things cross over.

Yes. 1993. 10:00am. I was on my way to the university for class. Broad daylight and sunny skies. A black shiny saucer shaped object hovering over the city that moved north as I was driving north. It had three circles on the bottom of the saucer. I opened the windows and turned the radio off to listen, and it made no sound. As it passed over the exchange with another major highway, it stopped, began to head east, and then accelerated to an impossible speed out of sight upward and eastward and disappeared from sight in seconds.

I don't know what that was. Certainly haven't seen anything like it before or since. But I'll never forget it.

What would you have done if you had one? If something survived galactic travel, your gun would be less than a bug being crushed by a windshield.
