UFO doesn't mean "alien space craft". It's simply something that is unidentified and in the sky. By that definition, anyone who has ever looked up into the sky has probably seen a UFO - but so what?

Which is why I always use the term Flying Saucer, - and that is exactly what it looked like.

I was close enough to see exactly what it was, - a saucer shaped craft of a dull gray color - with some kind of energy source going around the rim on the underside, hovering above the water, - silently, - and I was NOT alone when we saw it.

I'm an amateur astronomer and last year saw a distant bright light in the night sky which was moving. Initially I thought it was a satellite but then it started to move at crazy angles across the sky, and the movement was much too fast and irregular for a plane. So I don't know.

Yeah when I was driving north, I saw other people in the parking lots get out of their cars and point up to the sky at it. I was not alone either. It was as if half the town saw it in broad daylight.

I was told by others that it must have been a balloon, a small plane, experimental aircraft from the local Air Force base, or that I imagined everything. Can't say for sure.... All I know is what I saw, and that hovering silent shiny disc object is burned in my memory.

I remember the weirdest thing I've seen. I couldn't see any dimensions or depth of this object, but it looked like a white disc that had blue ring of color around it, and then it streaked across the sky like the Enterprise entering warp drive, looking like it was stretched out before vanishing.

I've seen flying glowing orbs that I couldn't identify. Perhaps, they were Chinese lanterns or flares released from an aircraft in the night time sky. I doubt that they were extraterrestrial spacecraft. According to Einstein's Theory of Relativity, as an object with mass such as a spaceship travels faster, its mass increases. Eventually, as a spaceship approaches an appreciable fraction of the speed of light, most of the energy to propel the spacecraft will be expended in increasing the spacecraft's mass instead of accelerating its speed. This means that the speed of light is a universal speed limit which nothing of mass such as spaceships could even come anywhere close to approaching. Because of the vastness of space between solar systems and the fact that spaceships can't accelerate to anywhere near the speed of light, I believe that interstellar space travel for a massive object such as a spacecraft is impossible. Any Earthling has most likely never actually seen a spacecraft of extraterrestrial origin.

Simple question. A ufo that was 'different' enough to be labeled such, and clearly seen, not a glimpse.

Thanks!

Well technically an UFO is an Unidentified Flying Object which means you likely have not seen it clearly enough and it does not mean you have seen an alien space craft..

But with that said, yes I have seen a UFO, but I have no idea what it was

Yup. I saw something similar with a friend many years ago. It was all quite amusing, because my friend knew me to be the scientific one and kept demanding an explanation from me. I said honestly, that I didn't have one.

The light also grew brighter and dimmer as it traveled - on a cloudless night.

Still don't know what it was. But nor am I going to make a unsupported leap of logic and go "OMGs ALIENS FROM OUTER SPACE!"

What? Me worry?
all I has seen was a 3-4 ft diameter chrome sphere ,it was up maybe 300 ft just floating along . I do wish I'da had a gun

Saw the same thing last year just before lunch in a town I was working in. Thing just appeared, floated a couple of blocks, and disappeared.

Use to go out on the porch at night and stargaze. One night I notice a particularly bright star where none had been before. As my wife and I watched, it suddenly shot straight up (relatively) and out of sight at a tremendous rate of speed with absolutely no sound. Weird.

It's interesting that some people do claim to have seen celestial irregular moving or hovering objects (UFOs). It's also very interesting that there is neither video evidence nor widespread collaborating testimony to support these claims. Perhaps, there are some people who experience hallucinations or they have wild imaginations.

They might see other aerial phenomena and simply misidentify it. For example, I saw four lights hovering in what appeared to be a rectangular formation one evening. While investigating, I saw that the Arizona lights, which were flares on balloons, looked virtually identical to what I saw. Mystery solved, I think. But I can understand why it appears mysterious at first.

I've become fond of the idea that many UFO sightings are really various nocturnal insects emitting a glow as they pass through electromagnetic fields. The only downside of this idea is there is very little about it on the internet that I have been able to find, and it's much easier to learn abit about it from watching the X-Files episode War of the Coprophages.
