Hays school board votes to prohibit satanism in dress code

Some background info. Mary Turner a parent of some students complained about this rule in a July meeting. Her family is Satanist, which is an officially recognized religion in America. She did not like the fact that Christian students could wear clothing proclaiming their faith but people of other faiths, hers specifically, could not do so.

You can read about it here:

Hays USD 489 to revisit dress code after parent complains about satanism ban

As a result that language was taken out of the school handbook.. Score one for Mary Turner. But her victory was short lived one particular school board member went out of his way to convince others to vote to have it returned to the handbook.

I smell a lawsuit.

My favorite Satanists are not the ones bawling their eyes out about feeling oppressed, and complaining about fashion choices in children’s school. I mean tst is absolutely pathetic.

I got to get my glasses checked. For a brief moment, I thought the thread title was "Hays, Kansas burns Satanist alive."

No one was "bawling their eyes out". They were simply pointing out an unconstitutional feature of that dress code. They could ban all religious attire. They cannot legally pick out one religion to discriminate against.

Why the heck it is then called "Satanism"?

At first it was to troll certain Christian groups during the so called “Satanic Panic” America had back in the 80s. But over time I think it’s become more symbolic. Like the groups adopting the title are more interested in what Satan can represent (ie a prejudice one can break past.)
But I’m not a Satanist, that’s just my limited understanding. Satanists could probably explain it better than I could.
I know a few. Lovely people

Have you ever read the Bible? They admire the spirit of Satan in the Bible, Satan is generally the good guy in the Bible if you understand the book. She is a member of the Satanic Temple:

There are Seven
FUNDAMENTAL TENETS
  • I
One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.

  • II
The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.

  • III
One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

  • IV
The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
  • V
Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.

  • VI
People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.

  • VII
Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

Telling someone to jump off the roof is good?

It's almost as confusing as working out which Christian sect worships Christ.
Yes, common to both is deliberate misinterpretation of the bible.

It's obvious that trolling continues don't you think so?

LaVeyan Satanists and members of The Satanic Temple are atheistic.
Sadly they couldn't establish "atheist church" since atheism isn't religion or faith so they had to come out with some name, and behold they chose "Satanism".

Not condoning it, but I can’t say that I blame the Satanists. Christians (not all but some sects in particular) have mocked, insulted and otherwise refused to engage in good faith dialogue with Satanists in general. That’s not even including the vilification and outright lies they spread about Satanism. (Pretty sure bearing false witness is supposed to be a sin, no?)
You get what you give.
Satanists trolling is a reaction to being victimised by Christians. So from my view, Christians don’t get to complain all of a sudden about being trolled. (Speaking generally.)

My favorite Satanists are the ones that fight oppression, especially against Christians.

A liberator to free you from your shame.
Ride out and set the slaves all free."
