Hehe, I guess this forum is a bit less popular than the Asatru one, but oh well.

I'm not Asatru, I'm heathen. So maybe I should post in here sometimes.

It's the northern european version of Pagan. In general, beliefs based on the tribal religions of the Northern European peoples of the Viking Age.

yep, but not in the context of this forum. "Non-christian" isn't exactly an indigenous european religion.

Right, but .lava asked what the term meant, and since it has multiple uses it might prevent confusion if he were aware of that.

I was assuming he was asking what it meant in this forum. Otherwise, he could easily look it up at dictionary.com if he wanted the other meanings of it(especially since the meaning I gave isn't in the dictionary).

thank you for telling that. i really did not know. do people still use that term for non-Christians?

.

Yep. Almost everyone who doesn't know about heathenry uses the term "heathen" for non-christian and/or barbarian.

A quick look at the stickied topic "heathenry overview" explains the meaning quite sufficiently.

The Germanic cultures came up with runes. I don't really use them much.
