My interest in Hekate was sudden, in 2002. If I had to choose, she wouldn't have been the one I'd pick! From my recollection, I stumbled upon some information about her one day online, and for the next couple of months I could not get her out of my head. She was permeating my thoughts so much, I recall vividly lying in bed almost to the point of frustration because I couldn't think of anything else. It was possibly the strongest spiritual experience I've ever had.
From that point (with her help) I found the courage to actually practice some of what I'd been learning. I began leaving her offerings at new moon, burning incense, lighting candles, praying, and generally having a relationship with her. Volunteering at the dog shelter was the next logical step, which I did for the next couple of years.
A few years later I found myself stuck in a cycle of exploring neo-Paganism, then coming back to Hekate alone, and then exploring Sikhism. This cycle went on for a while, before I said a formal goodbye to Hekate and stepped onto the Sikh path.
Now that has gone full circle, I'm back to rekindling the relationship with her. I'm excited to see now that there is so much more interest in her properly, even with an organisation set up for her.
