Help me find a good Psychiatrist?

Spirit of Light

I offered him help, unfortunately he thinks he understands medicine better than his doctor so there's not much I can say that's going to change anything
Attacking him for his "faults" isn't going to help him.

You attack someone who already laying down, and may have lost their way in life, who sees that the doctor isn't listening, but going on to say "i know what works for you, because this medicine worked on my other patient"

Medicine does not work like that, due to human beings react different to different medicine.

When @Spiderman say I know "this" medicine worked for me in the past, I would like to try it again, the doctor should say. Ok let us try for a month, if it does not work, we must find a different answer to your struggle

@Seeker of White Light ...... Hi.......
Can I ask some questions, please?
Do you live in a warden assisted home, or anything like that?

Is medicine for psychiatric patients best prescribed by a neurologist or a psychiatrist?

A UK psychiatrist was convicted on several counts of raping patients (in UK) and locked up, and many psychiatrists appear to be 'strange' in their manner and ways (UK) so how can you ever feel sure about them? Psychiatry is such an inexact science, isn't it?

Have you ever considered clearing all medicines out of your system and starting over again, or is this dangerous for you?

Are there forums where psychiatric patients can share their counselling and medication experiences?

Is it easy for you to have a 'happy' day and what tends to cause such days?

If you have a bad day, how do these get caused?

Don’t know if you’re still fighting addiction, but I was just visiting the JW.ORG homepage and guess what came up?

Here is the link to the article:

When Saul was troubled by bad spirits he would have David play him Pslams.

Listening to such music can invite the holy spirit and calm you in times of distress. Here is a link:

I can empathize with you. And care. Jehovah God so much more so as you will read in the link above.

One of the strongest treatments for mental illness is complete sobriety, some mentally ill people once sober for years can even come off or take less medicine, unfortunately I am not one of them, however I have no more symptoms, neither manic episodes or depression, however I still need medication for sleep, without psych meds I would not sleep at all and get totally psychotic manic with in a few days, stopping my medication is something I have learned the hard way to never do, Spiderman has been sober for 9 months however I believe he has been in a treatment programme where he is being drug tested etc, the real battle comes when you have to stay sober when you have no one watching over you, and you are the only one that knows if you are staying sober.

As to Spidermans contention that some schitzo affectives do not need antispychotics, that may be true but I don't think it could be true in his case, the end result of most people with severe illness going off anti psychotics is manic break and hospitalization, several years of sobriety might make it possible if the illness is completely caused by drug use, but the people that claim they fully recovered by stopping all their medication are generally the people with milder forms of these terrible illnesses

I should add that the only drug I was doing back in the day was marijuana, not even drinking at all, just the pot was enough to put me in hospital 2-3 times a year, now no hospitalization or manic breaks for years. since I've been sober

See, this is where your illness is showing. I have told you multiple times that I do not have contention that I do not need medicine, or that I'm okay without antipsychotics. I never made that argument.

Obviously I am very messed up.

I'm not okay with them, not okay without them. It means they don't make the bad situation better.

Every doctor should know that antipsychotics don't help everyone with psychotic symptoms who takes them.

I'm not saying that I am okay without the medication. I have told you otherwise multiple times. Yet you keep putting words in my mouth, like some how I think I am just fine without meds.

I don't know what would lead you to such a clearly false idea, when I have repeatedly told you otherwise?
