Hi everyone

I'm Jadamas, and lately I've been doubting my faith.
English is not my native language, so please don't make fun of my grammar :)

I believe in God but I don't practice any religion.
I've been thought issues in my personal and professional lives in the last past months, and for some reason these issues made me think about God, "life after life", and about my life and my death.
I sometimes get extremely anxious while thinking about death, I had this kind of feeling when I was a kid, but not as an adult.

I'm spending hours every day reading books, websites, and watching videos in order to find reasons to believe and stop with these doubts.

I'm not a "forum guy", but I thought maybe you could give me some advice.

Thank you all

Since you asked for advice, my feedback is that many have doubts from time to time. I don't know what your background is except that English is not your first language. But you write very well.

Have you read accounts of people who have had near death experiences? And are you familiar with the works of Ian Stevenson and others who meticulously investigated reincarnation? https://blogs.scientificamerican.co...e-we-e28098skepticse28099-really-just-cynics/

Welcome to the forum. You'll certainly get a variety of views of life, death, God, heaven, earth here. I hope you can find a few that satisfy.
Personally, I find solace in the fact that death happens to everyone. I mean everyone! On the face of it, that seems really dumb. To me it seems like it must be part of a system. I don't understand it, but I'm not going to worry about it either.

If you faith is based on logic and reason alone then that is certainly insufficient. Logic and reason should make us curious to discover more about God but are not a settling point. So it is great that you are trying.
Basically what we need beyond logic and reason is a living religion. A religion that does believes that God used to speak and still speaks no more and God used to act and still acts no more. I would like to give you the good news that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is such a religious community who believe that the much-awaited Messiah already arrived about a hundred years ago.
Keep praying because our eyes depend on light to work.

In fact, I watched several videos describing NDEs and reincarnation (usually kids). I am not a skeptical, but as I'm going through this "doubt phase", I guess it's not easy for me to believe, I'm kind of looking for evidences everywhere currently

I really like your "must be part of a system".

Thank you all for the welcome.
I really hope I will be able to find the answers I'm looking for.

Hi Jadamas,
Welcome to the forums, perhaps you could tell us more specifically what your doubts are if you wish?

Well said. Evidences are key!
Unfortunately, the notion of religion by most believers and non-believers is defined as something that has little to do with logic and rationale. As a result "evidence" plays little to no role.

It is as if common sense and religion occupy two different spheres.

Hi Jadamas,

Well, basically, my heart tells me that God exists, but I think my mind is looking for answers, maybe proofs, for a very long time now.
I was living this way, I mean not worrying about God and religion, and this is not the case anymore.
I may have pushed backed my concerns and questions for years, unconsciously, and maybe it's time for me to try to find my spiritual path.

I think there is a difference between inner proofs and universal proofs (ie proof to us vs things we can prove to others).
To me the inner perception of God constitutes a personal proof of God.

Thanks, although it's not "mine", just something I notice. Most religious books have good points to make here and there; however, I have found that just observing what's going on around us gives us tons of clues. You watch and say "Wait a minute. That can't be right. What could really be going on?" Then, when you read or remember the books, you think "Hmm... maybe that's what they meant." Of course, maybe not. Eventually, I find that the bits and pieces all start to fit together. The shape they make, I find comforting.

Thank you @danieldemol

I don't know the reason why my mind is looking for answers and proofs when my heart feels that God exists (inner perception?).
Actually, I'm looking for books, maybe websites where I can find information on "how to find God".
I use to read that evidences, proofs are everywhere around us, but it's like I can't see these proofs...
I'm feeling like I need a trigger or revelation in order to begin my spirituality path

searching the realm
Hey Jadamas,
I have been on my spiritual journey for several years now. I have researched a lot of different sources. The first foundational principle that I learned was that the heart is the part of us that is aware of our thoughts and has the wisdom to assess and discriminate as to which thoughts are true and safe and which ones should be allowed to pass by and fade away as not in our best interest. Many of the sources agreed that mis-beliefs/ mis-conceptions and wrong ideas are always floating around inside and our goal should be to re-program our minds. I personally believe that peace of mind concern spiritual matters is already within us. It is certainly not with membership or association with any group or religion. I am fulfilled in being free to search media sources as well as my own mind to find the answers to this life and the one to come.

Thank you
Well, my heart is telling me that God exists, to be more precise that something exists after we die. It’s a deep and string feeling I’have.
I use to read and try to understand (and believe) in the 3 monotheist religions but maybe the answers I’m looking for are elsewhere, indeed.

Do you mean "don't be a sheep, let your mind question, study and try to find answers" ?
Actually, this is exactly what I'm looking for.
In a way, yes.

Some things feel good, but they're bogus. A lot of people are emotionally attached to a religion, instead of actually having studied it and understand it. I'm not saying there is no emotional aspect whatsoever, we need those to connect to our Creator, but basing something so important on feelings is a bad way.
