Finding my own way
Non-moderator notice:
DP has used the word "shucks" in 2 posts in a row. "Shucks" shall not be used by
on poster more than once every 10 posts, preferably not in the same thread.
If this isn't a rule in RF, then it should be.
No? Well shucks. With all the shuckin' and jivin', I'm just sitting here shuckin' corn, watching all these shuckin' politicians trying to shuck up my life.

And now I can't even shuckin' tell them that's what they're doing?

Well, that just shucks.... ;)

I think you meant ('shall not be used by a poster more than once every 10 post...')
Woo, so glad you're not an English teacher let alone a moderator.....:D
I shall use "shucks" as many times as I want. "Don't tread on me"...!!!!
Me use English good, mostly!

Not Religious
Each side gets in a slump now & then.
To be fair and not paint broad pictures, congress as a whole has some horrifying approval ratings. But to go one further, the republicans in Congress take the cake in abysmally low ratings as compared to democrats. We all know where the problem lies.

Yeah, cuz the Dems are doing such a bang up job they shouldn't have any competition.

That's actually not a bad idea. If everyone was a member of one party, it would be like having no parties. Oh no, we might actually have to elect people based on character and policy positions rather than political affiliation.

That would completely alienate us extremists.
And because there's more power in groups, we'll always have our separate party.

But we each see the problem in a different place.

Of course!
(Other than local elections.)

That is kind of a phenomenon isn't it? It always seems that the extreme libertarian or socialist elected to some local seat is like this big hero to the city, and everyone loves them, but when it comes to national elections people absolutely refuse to elect people like their heroes in the local election.

Aye, they go for what's popular.

That is indeed a tight spot you are on as voters.

No one particularly wants to have an unsuccesfull vote. Yet going the way of one of those who actually have a chance of winning can be even more frustrating.

Having just one party might conceivably allow for less weight of the party itself and perhaps encourage listening to less popular ideas.

Ultimately, it all comes down to voters deciding which ideas they will tolerate or support and to which extent. John Kennedy was probably right on that regard.

For in a democracy, every citizen, regardless of his interest in politics, 'holds office'; everyone of us is in a position of responsibility; and, in the final analysis, the kind of government we get depends upon how we fulfill those responsibilities. We, the people, are the boss, and we will get the kind of political leadership, be it good or bad, that we demand and deserve.

Seems like it has become more of a popularity contest and that the foundations on which the most powerful country are degrading. Point in case the election of a first time senator over one with 20 years of experience. Inexperience and lack of backbone at this point which could lead to the next Cold War. Not too mention the possible detonation of a nuclear device in a stolen plane over a major western coast city killing millions of people.

I say other things, actually...
I respect your difference of opinion but the facts will bear out during this falls elections.

Luis our country is not represented correctly on the internet

One viewing the internet could assume we are much more Liberal than we actually are as a country.

Older more conservative voters are not on the internet but will be
In the voting booth

To imply that the GOP has lost its relevance is an exercise in mental masterbation

You may be right. I recall speaking with many well educated individuals and professionals back in the 80's, and we all KNEW that putting Reagan into office would be so incredibly inane and dangerous to the US. that the voting public would NEVER be that stupid.
Similar Bush Jr.

Like looking at the more savvy internet users, a more progressive vote....a vote based on science, economic realities, and at least basic understanding of politics, warfare, and facts.....is inevitable.
Unfortunately, this is NOT representative of less educated and most often MISinformed conservatives who are decieved into continuously voting against their religion's, their country's, their species', and their own personal good. :cover:

As Thomas Jefferson is quoted as saying...."Whenever the people are well informed, they can be trusted with their own government."
