Whoops - I'll fix that.Matthew 6:6 Not Mark.
In case you missed my edit:You said that he who is posting is condemning something or other. That's why I said that.
If you don't want to call what you say there "condemning," fine - the term we use doesn't matter. The point I'm trying to get at is whether you take the same attitude toward public prayer that you take toward praying to Mary.
Talking and condemning aren't mutually exclusive.@Furchizedek isn't condemning anything. He is talking. Actually not talking but communicating an opinion. AND he seems to be getting his opinion from what is written. It is telling that someone might call that condemnation. Isn't it?
Secularism overall would have a much easier time if Christians abided by that instruction.
That isn't his opinion. It is what the Bible really teaches. Your problem is with the Bible. Mine is too, brother. LOLTalking and condemning aren't mutually exclusive.
@Furchizedek argued that Catholics shouldn't do it, that Satan loves when they do, and that because they do it, they don't love Jesus. I think the term "condemn" is appropriate.
And do you tell people who, for instance, say grace as a family before dinner that they "lovest not Jesus" the way you did to Catholics?Well, whatever, but at least Christians would be obeying Jesus if they prayed in secret as Jesus said to do, so there's that.
So the Bible was the basis of his condemnation of the behaviour. I really don't see what you're taking issue with. That isn't his opinion. It is what the Bible really teaches.
I'm not your brother.Yourproblemm is with the Bible. Mine is too, brother. LOL
He didn't say, "every time".And do you tell people who, for instance, say grace as a family before dinner that they "lovest not Jesus" the way you did to Catholics?
I know that. That is why it is funny. So the Bible was the basis of his condemnation of the behaviour. I really don't see what you're taking issue with.
I'm not your brother.
Oh! The irony. It wasn't until this place that I learned to understand what it is.I really don't see what you're taking issue with.

I think he might argue with the people who say that the Bible is really and truly The Word Of God. But, he leaves that to me to do. And, it's a hobby to be sure.Jesus says don't do it, and Jesus says if you don't do what Jesus says, you don't love Him. So apparently your argument is with Jesus and apparently it's Jesus who is condemning.
One more time:
"But thou, WHEN thou prayest, ...pray to thy Father." (Matthew 6:6)
"If a man love me, he will keep my words."(John 14:23)
"He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings." (John 14:24)
Argue with Jesus.
Jesus isn't in this thread; you are.Jesus says don't do it, and Jesus says if you don't do what Jesus says, you don't love Him. So apparently your argument is with Jesus and apparently it's Jesus who is condemning.
Or with the person hypocritically editing Jesus's words to suit his own purposes. One more time:
"But thou, WHEN thou prayest, ...pray to thy Father." (Matthew 6:6)
"If a man love me, he will keep my words."(John 14:23)
"He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings." (John 14:24)
Argue with Jesus.
Sigh. His purposes? How many does he have, in your opinion?Jesus isn't in this thread; you are.
Or with the person hypocritically editing Jesus's words to suit his own purposes.

The part of the verse that you omitted says to pray in secret. Are you going to honour that? Secularism overall would have a much easier time if Christians abided by that instruction.
