I just feel the need to post this.

ALMIGHTY God, whose kingdom is everlasting, and power infinite: Have mercy upon the whole congregation, and so rule the heart of thy chosen servant Elizabeth, our queen and governor, that she (knowing whose minister she is) may above all things seek thy honour and glory; and that we her subjects (duly considering whose authority she hath) may faithfully serve, honour, and humbly obey her, in thee, and for thee, according to thy blessed Word and ordinance; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth ever one God, world without end. Amen.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, we be taught by thy holy Word, that the hearts of kings are in thy rule and governance, and that thou dost dispose and turn them, as it seemeth best to thy godly wisdom: We humbly beseech thee, so to dispose and govern the heart of Elizabeth, thy servant, our queen and governor, that in all her thoughts, words, and works, she may ever seek thy honour and glory, and study to preserve thy people committed to her charge, in wealth, peace, and godliness. Grant this, O merciful Father, for thy dear Son's sake, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I was reading that the royal family is gathering at Balmoral Castle. This seems serious, although I think they said she's under medical supervision. Not sure what that means.

The British State is good at cover ups. She could already be dead.

They drag stuff out to be able to prepare.

The next few days are going to be torture. A quote to wave off a living symbol symbol unearned wealth, privelege and status:

Having a queen as head of state is like having a pirate or a mermaid or Ewok as head of state. What’s the logic? Bees have queens, but the queen bee lays all of the eggs in the hive. The queen of the Britons has laid just four British eggs, and one of those is the sweatless creep Prince Andrew, so it’s hardly deserving of applause.

Right now the news here, MSNBC, seems to be eulogizing her before any announcement of death.
I do so admire her.

This is a really sad day. I hoped that she would live forever. I didn't always like her, but I came to respect her and her stoic attitude. What a life. Bravo, Liz. If it is her time, she will have her beloved Phillip again and I'm sure Queen Elizabeth 1 will be proud to meet her.

She is probably dying. The Palace doesn't normally admit to anything being wrong with the monarch unless it is so serious it can't be hushed up. The family has been summoned and they are all arriving at Balmoral. It feels like the end game at last for Elizabeth, at 96. It's sad of course, but it is time, really.

I wonder if we will get the time-honoured announcement: "The Queen is dead: long live the King", the idea being that there is continuity in the Head of State. Charles III. Quite a thought. But I'm getting ahead of events.....

Later footnote: Er, no I wasn't. She had already died when I wrote that, apparently. So, Long live the King.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
You know, you live a good long life , it's something to be said for it and legacies for live past the person.

I'd say the queen did rather well over the course of her life.

It was just before I turned 4 that she became Queen. I was born in the reign of her father, King George VI. I confess it freely, I'm a Canadian monarchist -- I like the tradition of a constitutional monarchy, and I like the fact that while she has appointed 15 Prime Ministers, all wildly different in temperament, there has always been that one constant to advise them.

And I confess that I always admired her, too. I will grieve her passing.

The Queen has been a constant in my life,an amazing ambassador for us,born to extraordinary circumstances and wealth but still had dignity and carried out her duties with aplomb but don’t give up on her yet although once Phillip died and at 97 she’s had a good innings.

Windsor castle is just 7 miles from me,she stayed there a lot and from a young age I saw her many times and Royal Ascot lit up when she arrived in her carriage before the days racing, amazing women imo.
